PRE-DCEU PRODUCTION STORIES

No.139371712 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Superman: The Movie (1978)

>Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, Sam Peckinpah, William Friedkin, John Guillermin, Peter Yates, Ronald Neame, Robert Aldrich, Norman Jewison, Mark Robson, Guy Hamilton and Richard Lester were considered to direct the movie before Richard Donner was hired.

>Producers planned to film SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN II back-to-back. Mario Puzo wrote a 550 pages script with an overtly campy tone, featuring Clark Kent and Lois Lane as television reporters; General Zod’s crew having two additional members, Jax-Ur and Jak-El; and Lex Luthor having an additional henchman, Otis’s brother Albert. Donner disliked the script and rewrote it with Tom Mankiewicz, and persuaded producers to focus on completing SUPERMAN, since a cliffhanger ending wouldn't accomplish anything without a successful first movie.

>In early drafts, Superman would divert Luthor's nuclear missile to space, where it would accidentally free Zod, Ursa and Non from the Phantom Zone and lead them to Earth. When SUPERMAN became a standalone movie, Donner used the concept of Superman turning back time and changing the past, originally slated for SUPERMAN II, to give the first film a proper ending.

>Donner clashed with the producers several times, and they hired Richard Lester as a second unit director before ultimately firing Donner from SUPERMAN II so Lester could take over.

Official Win-O'-Thread

No.139397764 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
>What is this thread?
Every Wins'day at Win-O'-Clock we gather here and post links to the latest scans and rips of comic books.
Most links we uploaded ourselves, others we are sharing from elsewhere.
Some comics we've even purchased ourselves (but most we didn't).
If you'd like to help out, just ask and we would be delighted to tell you how.
Otherwise, be patient, be polite, and understand the simple concept behind these words: Not posted means not available yet.

>Where can I find old Win-O'-Threads?
http://desuarchive.org/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
http://boards.fireden.net/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
(Note: This finds the OP for old threads. If you want to search for comics in the archive, clear the subject field!)

>Where can I find downloads for other comics?
Warez forums/blogs, DDL-indexing search engines (like FilesLoop), torrent trackers (like 1337x) and other P2P networks (like DC++).
If a link has been posted on 4chan, you can search for it in the Desu archive (add "http*" to searches to return only posts with links).
If all else fails, just >buy it.

>Where can I buy comics?
http://www.amazon.com/
On the various publishers' webstores, and at your local comics shop.

>Where can I find an LCS?
http://www.comicshoplocator.com/

>Where can I find out when new comics are released?
http://www.comiclist.com/index.php
http://www.previewsworld.com

>How do I download from websites that only give me .exe files?
Untick the checkbox under the download button.

>How can I find this thread every week?
If you are using the inline extension go to http://4chan.org/co/official or use the option under "Filters & Post Hiding".
If you have 4chanX go to Settings > Filter > Subject and add the following line:
/Official Win-O'-Thread/;highlight

>And last but not least
We almost made it to a new comics day

Who are some of your favorite ComicTubers? Imo Godzilla Mendoza can do no wrong.

Glad that the days of Linkara having a cringey monopoly on the genre are gone. Hate fuckers like Comicstorian, but there are a lot of good ones.

I really dig Watchtower Database too, their Dwayne McDuffie doc was pretty good.
