Why is "the writing always matters more than the animation" a real saying people believe when the grand majority of writer driven cartoons are awful? And I'm not talking about stuff like Venture Bros or BTAS that have good writing that's complimented by good visuals, name me 10-15 shows that completely awful and charmless animation but has writing that rivals live action or even certain comic books? You can't. This is why I feel like this that excuse feels more like typical animation fan insecurity than an actual agruement. Animation should be focuses on doing the thing its best at, instead of failing miserably to replicate live action.
