I thought the original YouTube series was great, and I was very nervous when they said that a TV show was coming out. I had really low expectations to begin with, but I wasn't expecting anything nearly as bad as it was. I'm baffled that the same people behind the first six episodes on YouTube are the ones behind this. I don't know if it was the studios fault, the editors fault, or maybe Don't hug me, I'm scared wasn't very good to begin with, but I am extremely disappointed, and I wouldn't recommend anyone give this a try.
>"Love the first one but this one was very weak IMO. it’s very low stakes when it comes to the story and the songs are forgettable asf. i’m sure it will make tons of money but it really felt like one of those generic straight to dvd sequels that disney was doing during the late 90s/early 2000s. Also there’s a post credit scene where they confirm there’s gonna be a 3rd movie (!!!!!) so there’s that lol."
>"Moana 2' is a fair enough sequel, with some charismatic characters, a solid story and a script with some funny moments – but it goes on too long in some scenes, and even with a shorter duration than its predecessor, the film is a little tiring. The animation level is also well below the first, having a more artificial texture."
>"Everyone will (correctly) talk about how much Lin-Manuel Miranda is missed. This is the kind of movie that makes it clear what legends John Musker and Ron Clements are."
>"Mediocre. Very sad to report that this is only the first film but worse. And I LOVE the first movie, it's my favorite Disney movie. This was clearly supposed to be a series, it's cut and paced all strange, dull and the songs are TERRIBLE, none of them hold a candle to the songs in the first one. The “villain” who was the most interesting new character is super wasted and the other new ensemble characters are a pain."
>"The equivalent of the unpopped corns at the bottom of a popcorn bucket. All that I felt was the stress of a team who DID NOT want to make this movie and just did it for a paycheck. At least Wish had a somewhat-unique style to its animation and songs (even if it didn't land for most people, I at least can commend the effort they TRIED to put in). This looks and feels like a cheap Disney+ TV show turned feature length movie, because it is. Watching this after The Wild Robot, Ultraman Rising and Inside Out 2, this feels like a slap to the face."
