Jacqui slows down a bit but continues driving at a fairly speedy pace. "Everyone in one piece back there?" she asks, looking back at them.
"So far so good," Cassie replies, leaning forward to hug her friend from behind. She breaks away and gives Cao a friendly punch on the shoulder. "Nice work, man! You can really hold your own!"
"Yeah, thanks..." he says, looking out. It's still early morning, and they're heading south. 'Good...' he thinks to himself. 'Maybe we'll reach the jungle soon...'
Jacqui finds a cave and pulls into it, stopping the car. They both hop out and look around the outside of it. "Man... Johnny is going to kill us," Jacqui says.
"I think, given the circumstances, dad will be cool," Cassie replies. "Which reminds me..." She takes out her cell phone. "Ugh. Of course. No signal in other realms. Shit..."
"We've still got a full tank. At least we filled up before all hell broke loose," Jacqui says.
Cao sits up and idly wonders what they're both talking about. Signal, tank... They really are from another world entirely.
Jacqui opens up the hood of the car and waves away some smoke. "This old boy's not been pushed this hard in a while. Gonna need some work. We got tools?"
"Don't think so," Cassie says.
Jacqui spits into her hands. "Alright then, by hands it is."
Cassie looks at her watch and begins fiddling with it.
