I'm trying to build a thief in Pathfinder. A phantom thief, actually. So what I really want is an illusion-based wizard that has a few key skills. I normally play martial characters so I'm looking for a bit of advice.
Obviously I have to be able to cast spells silently, and with stillness. Still Spell is mainly for style and misdirection, and to cause chaos without everyone knowing the guy flailing his arms and generally looking like a spastic is casting spells.
I have to be able to be silent while invisible, so I'll need a decent stealth score. I'll need decent disguise, so I don't blow spells on appearance or ping under magic detection. Social skills could definitely help as well.
For the most part I was thinking of going into Arcane Trickster for at least 5 levels, but there are a couple of cooler options and I don't know if 3 levels of rogue are more valuable than 2 feats. On the other hand, illusions might be able to help me get enemies flatfooted during normal combat? Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't really know how spells work. At least they'll let my character be needlessly flashy.
I guess I could just be a Rogue with loads of wands, but that's basically what I play all the time, with more wands.
Anyway, any ideas?
