Hello fa/tg/uys, I wondered if you could help a master out.
I'm DMing a campaign in D&D 5th edition and as my main quest I thought that an entity was going around slaughtering gods.
This entity is supposed to be weak at first and kill very minor gods, and I also thought that, whenever a god dies, his essence is split in three artifacts which could be used to restore it to life or kept as valuable magic items. For instance, the first God to die will be the God of candles, and it's three artifacts will be a candle that makes understanding text easier, one that makes rests more effective and one that makes spellcasters recover a slot (probably found in this order). I am brainstorming more ideas for more items for different gods, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
Tl;dr: three items that embody the essence of one god for any deity that comes to mind.
