another option is that the eggs are going to hatch magmadroths with different properties if the guy basks them in the energies that flow during battle, or with the flames these guys are supposed to go and secure
or maybe they're hard as hell and somehow assured to not hatch and kept as status symbol
but I'm biased towards the first option
