Elves are not objectively better than anyone else, that's another stupid no-game meme. Most games you can play have them balanced to the other player options. Some may scream at me how that's not elfy, but "being better at everything" is not a standard elf trait. They are skilled, dexterous, agile, perceptive and magical, as much as dwarves are strong, persistent, crafty, determined and adjusted to underground life.
There are only a handful of games that have objectively better elves, like WFRP. That game is honest about races and careers not being all equal, and also assumes players roll and there is a low chance to roll an elf. Also, they have less meta-currencies to fuck around, so there is still some attempt to balance them.
