Your path since your encounter with Carmina has been abnormally easy. The residents of The Maw still charge at you in ground-shaking numbers, but they fall like a towering house of cards all the same to you wielding the bound Ip’Suran and subsequently are squashed under your army’s heels.
Their strategies, if you could call them that, rely heavily on overwhelming and chaotic ambushes. Any normal army would’ve crumpled long before they ever made it this far. However, combined with the raw power available to your forces and the careful organization of your own troops, the once daunting enemy swarms are effortlessly dealt with time and again.
You cross your arms while you ponder over what this could possibly mean. Is it possible that The Empress overestimated the capabilities of the enemy here? Even with that ancient being’s incredible power being so firmly leashed, is this all they have to offer in resistance? Why does it appear as if The Broodmother is allowing her army to rush to their death without orders?
“Is there something on your mind, Sophia?” The Empress asks breaking the silence.
“Only planning for any potential ambushes.” You respond without skipping a beat.
You didn’t allow your thoughts to show in any way on your face, not here.
She smiles to herself. “Have you gotten what you wanted, Sophia?”
What does she mean by that?
“Could you explain your meaning, my Empress?” You settle back slightly.
