That's a very good question. While I do think that the goddess of love and the procreation that comes with it made human-human relationships produce more men so that monsters can marry as well. I'm sure they are fine. However angels are made from the souls of either exceptional or at least devoted individuals with the exceptional becoming Archangels and the lesser ones staying as regular angels (as regular as an Angel is). Elevating lovers as angels so that no angel has to suffer the feeling of not having their beloved with them can help.

Attention to detail focusing about the geography of these regions, culture and in-general fleshing them out
Talk about theories of divergent evolution, whether this is due to corruption, natural, or magical reasons is up to debate and interpretation.
Also, last thread there was talk about: arabian nights themed automatons, colleges are a thing, and "barbaric" or simple minded beings keeping abyssals at bay.
Bugs, ravaging conquerors or laborious builders, can they manage to subsist on their own? or will they forge aliances and relations with the kingdoms of men?
The Sabbath, is it worth saving the world at the price of lolidom?
There was talk about giant herders and Ice giant nomads.
And most recently
The moon(s?), how does it affect monsters? and also yearly invasions by moon wererabbits.
Undeath, a side dish of corruption, or something entirely different? If not worse?
And Tengu, warring masterminds? devious spymasters? underhanded rogues? all of the aforementioned?

No worries, we're on the same page on this one. You've noticed the weird trend ancestor worship took in Japan.

This sort of 'nobility hijacks x' trend happens repeatedly and consistently when Japanese society 'adjusts' something. Even egalitarian programs and movements inevitably become twisted into some sort of 'divine right by blood' propaganda. Corporations become Zaibatsu etc.

Personally the only Japanese language I deal with is kanji, as it is an extended version of Chinese. The symbolism between hats and crows you bring up is interesting. Things like this slight cultural obsession with emptiness have a few precedents. Several of them are notably martial in outlook i.e the Aztec and their focus on mass ritualized festivals, insistence on monism, and belief in utter impermanence and stability in one package.

Frankly a lot of these points you mention have a strong resemblance to the Chan and Zen distortions of Buddhist practices and theology. Emptiness, divine right, and stratification weren't hallmarks of Buddhist thought, yet Zen is filled to overflowing these sorts of things. I might have to go over some of my materials on Shinto -- its philosophy might be a partial cause of these sorts of errors.

With the influence and power of the Chaos Dwarves (and by relation hers) growing slowly but steadily, she seeks to take the position of the Demon Lord and overthrow the gods of the world. Hashut was one of the many rivals that Lilith had to face in order to ascend to and maintain her position as Demon Lord. Despite Lilith succeeding at gaining the position and cementing her power, Hashut has rejected the changes that Lilith made to monsters, never taking her humanoid form and even figuring out how to cut herself off from it completely. She does see merit in the eventual end goal of Lilith uniting humans and monsters as that means that Lilith would have dominion over both but does not understand why Lilith has made all monsters take on a human-like form which in many cases has made them far weaker than the form they had in ages past.

Ironically, despite subjugating themselves to a monster, the Chaos Dwarves have the most independence from monsters in the current age, their southern counterparts having nearly entirely turned themselves into a strain of Succubus.

The Chaos Dwarves are primarily an infantry based elite army like their southern counterparts from the previous age, slow of movement but incredibly hard to shift, with a large variety of war machines supporting them. Unlike their southern counterparts, the Chaos Dwarves have subjugated monsters to fight and slave for them, providing some hard hitting melee capabilities and fodder to catch hits from ranged weapons and war machines. The Chaos Dwarves also use magic in the same manner as the other races, while risky (even more so for dwarves) the Chaos Dwarves consider the rewards of such powers worth whatever risks are sustained.

Joke all you want but just to be clear. In the long run you will have to value and chose human women over the monsters and their hollow morals.

A human woman who has been abused, beaten, gone through violence, humiliated, etc. Is far more wholesome, far more beautiful, far more pure, far more empowered and has far more legitimate resolve than any "Powerful" monster girl that has magical and supernatural abilities and magic powers.

Because in the end humanity has far more resolve and resilience. So ideal ending for monstergirl encyclopedia? Humanity succeeding and prevailing, because everyone needs to learn a lesson that the shallow utopic hugbox that is prelevant in MGE is a mirage and an illusion. Only through struggle, even through tragic, grim and dark and unfair violence and turmoil will a more wholesome and brighter future can be succeeded.

The spellcasters of the Chaos dwarves are part Engineer, part sorcerer, the Daemonsmiths and the Sorcerer-Prophets above them. The backbone of the Chaos Dwarf armies is the Infernal Guard, sworn to defend their citadels to the death. This is not so for the Chaos Dwarves, who equip every member of the core of their army in blackshard armor, specially forged to provide not only the protection of full plate but near immunity to flames. Infernal Guard have been sighted equipped with a large variety of equipment. The least among them simply wield a hand weapon and shield, forming nearly impenetrable shield walls but they have also been witnessed wielding great weapons, blunderbusses with a shield and even strange hybrids between halberd and firearm called Fireglaives.

I have a theory...

Romance, love and marriage rates have been increasing; or outright skyrocketing in the recent age, all thanks to the Current Demon Lord being a succubus who admires human-kind and has change all of monster-kind into being cute, loving and caring girls.

And because of the increasing love and the fact that Demon-kind and Monstergirl-kind under the Current Demon Lord have figuratively and or literally weaponized the Power of Love (and even Lust), you think its likely that Eros, The Goddess of Love, has become more powerful and influential? I mean, MGE-Lore has stated or implied that Eros is friends and buddy-buddies with the Current Demon Lord much like how the Sea Goddess and Death have also allied to the Demon Lord too.

So I'd like to suggest, maybe Eros has become more powerful and influential thanks to all the love and romance making made by human men-monster girl couples going on and around and around. Including the love being made by recently corrupted and monsterized human women expressing their love and feelings to the men they have feelings fore. Plus I'd like to think that the day when the Current Demon Lord, her Husband, her Lilim Daughters and all their plans and agendas succeed and win. Eros will be placed in a more higher position of power than what she currently is in, all of which would be given to her by the Current Demon Lord so Eros can support her even more. I guess Eros may take over the Chief God's role of being the new "Overgod" for human kind and whatever Neo-Order is around, basically as a puppet leader who supports the Current Demon Lord.

As formidable as the Infernal Guard are, their are two versions of elite infantry above them, the Immortals and Zealot Berserkers.

Clad in Granite armor, even tougher than the Blackshard armor worn by the Infernal Guard, the Immortals keep vigilance over the ruling Sorcerers and all other prominent leaders of the Chaos Dwarves, not to protect them but to watch them. It is the sole duty of the Immortals to preserve the empire of the Chaos Dwarves by destroying threats to it from both within and without. In times of war, the Immortals accompany the Sorcerer-Prophets and Overlords into battle, defending them to the death but just as easily turning their blades upon their charge if mere conjecture arises. The only one above the reproach of the Immortals is Hashut herself and even then, there was a time when she was held under suspicion for fear that the Demon Lord Lilith might manage to subvert her until Hashut asserted her true independence.

The other elite infantry unit of the Chaos Dwarves are the Zealot Berzerkers. Whirlwinds of destruction, these frenzied warriors wade into battle with dual weapons. The only protections they possess are the runes branded on their skin and the ability to kill their opponents before they themselves get killed. The magic runes branded on their flesh provide them with minor protection against attacks and will protect them from fire. Entry into the Zealot Berserkers is simple, be branded with the runes without screaming. Those that scream will continue to be branded until they stop, either due to getting used to the pain or dying.

One of the more horrid creatures in the service of the Chaos Dwarves are the Bull Centaurs. Bull Centaurs resemble a Centaur, except they are far larger and with the upper body of a dwarf growing out of where the head of a bull would be. These goblins are not the endearingly childlike creatures of the current age, but ugly, vicious and cowardly monsters. When Hashut developed the ritual that cut her off from the Demon Lords influence and allowed her to maintain her preferred form forever, she taught the ritual to her subordinate Sorcerer-Prophets. The Chaos Dwarves made effective use of the rituals, preferring to use it on monsters who were non-sapient in the previous age, or individually weak. The Goblins of the previous age are an example of the latter, easily overpowered by any dwarf and rejected by others as a visible symbol of the previous age. In war, goblins provide fodder for the dwarven army, every arrow, axe swing, bullet or similar that is directed at a goblin is not directed at a dwarf. Despite their status as fodder, goblins under a Chaos Dwarf army are at least decently equipped, lightly armored at all times and possessing a shield, bow or both.

As much as the Chaos Dwarves try to keep the goblins at a lower station, there are two "elite" units of them that can be seen in their armies. Skulkers and Wolf Riders. The Skulkers are stealthy infiltrators and ambushers, putting themselves in risky operations that the Chaos Dwarves would rather put an expendable goblin into. Wolf Riders ride wolves as their name suggests, granting a unit of impressive speed to an army that normally plods along. Sometimes a lucky battlegroup of wolf riders will have a K'daai Destroyer following along them to support them.

Occasionally, a particularly successful Goblin will rise to prominence over the rest of the goblins, styling themselves a "Khan" after the goblin tribes of the eastern lands. Such "Khans" prove useful for organizing and marshaling their kin but should any become too successful and a threat to their Dwarven master's dominance will most likely end up impaled in visible sight as a reminder to others of the rewards of getting ideas above their station.

Sometimes, the goblins are allowed to build and use bolt throwers of their own. An afterthough in firepower compared to what the dwarves use but in the right circumstances, can be deadly.

Some of the most effective units that the Chaos Dwarves have available are the K'daai Fireborn and Destroyers, devastating shock troops and destructive monster respectively that can be a hazard to simply stand near. These constructs are an armoured framework of articulated iron and rune-stamped bronze, that are animated and directed by a ensorcelled creature from the aether or an enslaved soul. As powerful as K'daai are, they are difficult to maintain as the destructive energies that contain them destroy the shell binding it little by little. Their use is confined and between battles they slumber as cold shells. The Fireborn are the weaker and easier of the two to make, Destroyers have been known to take a larger variety of forms such as having massive wings, a head in the shape of a bull or a body covered in barbs and blades.

Infernal Guard units are sometimes supported by weapon teams equipped with Inferno Guns and Bazukas. The inferno gun is essentially a scaled up version of the blunderbuss used by the Infernal Guard, a powerful weapon that shreds through infantry units. The Bazuka is a simple-seeming tube like weapon that fires a rocket with an explosive charge.

Woe to any giant or cyclops that are captured by the Chaos Dwarves for their fate is to be turned into a Siege Giant, a mutilated, half-insane creature that has been armored with layer upon layer of iron and bronze plates, firmly secured by heat-fusing, riveting or nailing them deep into the flesh. In addition, picks, hooked blades or even chain flails are lashed to the unfortunate creatures arms.

Another monster that was non-sapient in the previous age that is now used by the Chaos Dwarves in its original form is the Chimera, a beast with the head of a goat, dragon and lion and a snake for a tail.

The Overlords, Daemonsmiths, Despots and Sorcerer Prophets of the Chaos Dwarves also have a decent selection of mounts available to them which might be especially mandatory for Daemonsmiths and Sorcerer Prophets as their curse turns their legs to stone. Daemonsmiths and Sorcerer Prophets are sometimes born aloft palanquins and protected by able-bodied warriors. More exotic mounts are Great Taurus, Manticores and Lammasu, all creations of foul sorcery. The Lammasu and Manticore are too rare to ever by found being ridden by Despots or Daemonsmiths.

The Great Taurus is the least rare of these mounts, it is a giant winged bull. Fire heals it instead of harms it, the heat of its presence makes even close proximity to it dangerous and it can breathe fire.

The Lammasu is the second least rare of the three. Highly, intelligent, magically capable and resistant to magic. Lammasu have the body of a gigantic bull and a mace-tipped tail with lion like claws instead of hooves and the face of a dwarf. The creature does not breathe air but magic, exhaling sorcerous clouds that wreath it in protection. Every lammasu possesses minor but potent spell casting abilities.

Chaos Dwarves have a large variety of powerful war machines available to them. Sometimes, they will bind creatures of the aether and the souls of living being to them, making. Such a binding makes the War Machine far more frightening to be in close proximity to than an inanimate object has any right to be, makes the machine tougher and gives all of its attacks a touch of magic. This comes with a cost as the souls within will take every opportunity to rebel against their binding, attempting to kill the crew tormenting them.

The Iron Daemon Engine is a steam driven contraption directed by three dwarves. Outside of battle, they are used to tow carts containing other war machines, ammunition, weapons and other supplies. Inside of battle, the Iron Daemon Engine is a formidable weapons platform, able to both push through enemy formations and blast them apart with Steam Carronade (a blunderbuss whose force is provided through pressurized steam rather than black powder) fire. Sometimes, the immobile war machines are mounted on steam carriages, providing a defensive position for the crew and allowing the Iron Daemon Engine to tow it for fast relocation in the heat of battle.

The Magma Cannon is a fiendish weapon first devised to fight trolls in the previous age by spewing molten metal and fire on its victims. It is short-ranged but potentially devastating, able to incinerate packed bodies of troops or burn clear defended positions.

The Deathshrieker rocket consists of a tubular rocket packed full of a chemical propellant. It can fire two types of rocket, Deathshrieker rockets meant to clear an area in flames and demolition rockets meant to cause concentrated damage.

The Dreadquake Mortar is one of the most deadly weapons in the Chaos Dwarf arsenal, firing a heavy shell full of a powerful explosive. When the shell lands, it buries into the ground before it explodes, creating a devastating shock wave, knocking everyone nearby to the ground. The shells are so unwieldy that an Ogre cut off from the demon lord is usually part of the crew to speed up loading times.

Hellcannons are one of the most terrible warmachines that the Chaos Dwarfs have created. A Hellcannon is powered and controlled by either creatures of the aether or enslaved souls, which also means that the crew guide rather than crew it. While this does give it's projectiles the power that they possess, the fact that it is a powerful war machine controlled by enslaved souls will mean that they are mad and will try to break free or kill the crew. The Chaos Dwarves consider this worth the risk as a Hellcannon can blast apart the walls of even the most stalwart fortress and defend itself when attacked.

Juggernaut Siege Towers are one of the largest and most frightening siege engines possessed by the Chaos Dwarves. A Juggernaut is powered by bound creatures of the aether and enslaved souls just like a Hellcannon, but not controlled by them, instead being pushed by a Bull Centaur. The tower is occupied by several Chaos Dwarves armed with Fireglaives and the tower has two field guns mounted on the front. Those that stand before it are blasted, ground and torn apart by either the cannons or the wheels.

The Kollossus is a vaguely humanoid war machines. They are mindless so will undertake missions that living creatures will dread to undertake. Kollossus are ideal for breaking battle lines, taking on large creatures, war machines, chariots and disloging fortified positions. They are especially useful in sieges where they can crush the gates in mere moments and enemy missiles can do little damage to it.

I know that, but the thing is that they can because of their own power/magic/willforce or whatever you go for, yet it's temporary since it's supposed to strain them, here, it's forcing them to revert to a change that is supposed to have affected them permanently, so I'm assuming it could be done, but it'll effectively kill the monster since being permanently reverted to it's original monster form would shorten their lifespan.

I wonder if there are alchemists making drugs that induce violent rage in order to combat corruption. Maybe they try to pass off smaller doses as an anti-nymphomania prescription drug that has side-effects that are worse than the symptoms of corruption.

ask kenkou it's his setting but literal OG chief god the deity that made the world humans, AND monsters set the system up. Love is an undeniable force with it's own subordinate god and everything and it's the basis for the new human LOVING monsters because its just now an inherent part of their being thanks to the new demon lord being an odd almost hippy equivalent succubus. The new chief god is a title bestowed to a goddes promoting the chivalrous side of Love, versus the demon lords lust side of Love. The demon lord and her newly incubused previously human partner can feed each others energy infinitely due to their nature via sex allowing them to challenge and wound the new chief god.
Currently it's just a game of My Love vs. Your Love as the the original dichotomy of humans rise up, kill monsters then need to be killed by rised up monsters etc. Is now in ruins as the demon lord is gaining power and so to are the monster girls while the the current chief god is trying her best to raise up human heroes and promote chivalrous love. Shits fucked so some monsters(holstaurs for example) really are on human sides and plenty of humans(rogue eros worshippers) are on the demon lords side.
Tl;dr its canonically love they're packing regardless of species the monster girls just have a LOT more of it.

They're the least demonic energy filled basically. The Chaos Dwarves use monsters in the form of the previous age but the only useful ones were either non-sapient in the previous age or individually weak. The ritual is used to create Goblins in bulk for both slave labor and fodder troops. Ogres were 10 feet tall masses of muscle and a few captured Ogres are used for heavy-lifting by the Chaos Dwarves. Lastly, they have Chimera and Manticores which were non-sapient in the previous age and therefore controllable. One benefit of returning monsters to their previous form is also that they can breed and reproduce on their own.

While Hashut developed rituals to sever the connection to the Demon Lord, (which causes the form ordained by the Gods to reassert itself) and taught it to her subordinate dwarves, there are also ways for monsters to temporarily take the forms of the previous age. The Dragon variants can do so easily but there are also monster spellcasters that can do so using the Lore of Beasts. Of course, the nature of the spell means that they can choose among a number of forms they can take when using Transformation of Kadon and it doesn't have to be the same form the race had in the previous age. A manticore spellcaster could use Transformation of Kadon to temporarily turn herself into the Manticore of the previous age, but can also use it to turn into a Hydra, dragon, chimera or a variety of other forms. Unlike the rituals used by the Chaos Dwarves, these spells are temporary, and allow the monster to keep their minds while transformed.

I kind of imagine it being 1.3 or 1.6 times bigger than earth, something like that anyway. Wonderland being a different dimension along with cat kingdoms being a similar thing already frees up a lot of space.
Then there's also other things that make things interesting such as:

>Underground colonies from races like ants are probably plentiful as they're a common race

Some individuals contain a LOT of this and some contain almost none. Think of it like a manapool if that helps. Some monsters have almost none and some like khepri have enough to physically manifest it as an object. My personal setting is basically exactly that scenario, except the madman went through with it, and the intelligent races only survived because their dams and sires begged him to spare them.

He let them each pick a hundred or so out of millions to save.

And since he was the god of humanity, and could not care less, they only survived because the dog goddess of justice and war was willing to split who she saved between them and her offspring, cementing the bond between puppers and humans even further, and reducing both their numbers to half of what they should be. It can AUGMENT shit like boosting existing strength or strengthening spell power but it is not a direct relation with either nor a requirement.
Holstaurs are stronk because they just have the literal physical muscles for that thanks to being a minotaur offshoot. No demonic energy needed. That's not to say they couldn't boost their physical capabilities with demonic energy but it is by no means a requirement for said strength to exist.

I'm not saying that the more demonic energy you have the physically stronger you are, I'm saying that monsters known for their strength (like Ushi-Oni or Wyrms) have high demonic energy, because it would require a lot to sustain such a ridiculous amount of strength. Anon you still don't get the point. Demonic Energy being a force that powers their very being is very literal, and different species of monsters exert their demonic energies in different ways. A Wurm will likely never cast a spell in her life yet she still possesses great power due to the great amount of demonic energy she wields (strong enough to temporarily turn her back into an actual Wurm).

Holstaurs are factually low in demonic energy and it shows in that their physically radiating demonic energy is abysmally low to the point they can exist in human lands without worry of corrupting the land or humans nearby to the point even their husbands(who would get linked with the monster and her energy yielding incubi in worst cases) lust and desires remained wholly unchanged and even the products of their body(their milk) are so low in demonic energy even the order freely allows that shit to exist plus it buys it up and sells it in their own markets as its entirely safe which would not be the case if it came from a high energy monster.
The only argument here is an overly sexed holstaur would be stronger than your average holstaur assuming they have the actual ability to funnel their surplus in such a way(plenty of monsters can't do that or use spells despite their surplus like slimes).
Tl;dr by setting canon they're just strong due to natural muscle and everything backs that up.

Why not? It would streamline things beautifully. Allows proper communication from the Church to all the faithful, merchants have a common tongue no matter how far they've traveled and the clergy don't have to translate scripture into other languages. Not to mention allows PCs with an education to bridge the language gap.

Cowgirls lived in rural areas and were well-liked by their neighbors for being kind and helpful, thus they had a long history of interbreeding with humans.

Sheepgirls all lived together fairly separate from humanity, but were well known for their healing magic and connection to natural powers. They also often used Not!Uplift in order to turn an animal or plant intelligent in order to act as a companion, and so are pretty much the reason stuff like treants exist.

The undead have changed the most between ages. While Vampires, Dullahans and Lichs maintain very similar mentalities and forms between ages, the vast bulk of undead were changed considerably.

In the previous age, the zombies that formed the bulk and backbone of the undead military were mere automatons animated by the magic of undead spellcasters. These mindless undead feared nothing, needed no supplies, can become quite strong and resilient, were immune to poison and their appearance could frighten opponents but they were also unskilled fighters, would crumble apart should the Necromancer animating them be slain or when put under stress and only had the intelligence for the most basic of tactics. The zombies of the current age now have intelligence and stability, which has caused them to exchange their strengths and weaknesses for new ones. While they are still the bulk and backbone of an undead military and can become quite strong and resilient, an undead army now suffers from the weaknesses of supplies and morale that a living army suffers. Poison can lay them low and their appearance will no longer frighten others. However, these new undead won't crumble apart, can become skilled fighters and have the intelligence for complex battle tactics when well-drilled instead of only when led by a more intelligent undead.

Ghouls and Jiangshi of the previous age were horrid creatures. While zombies were raised from a corpse with little alterations, ghouls and jiangshi are created by warping and twisting the flesh with dark magic before raising it. Ghouls and Jiangshi were ugly stooping creatures with only a vestigial sense of reason, tearing at foes with vicious claws coated in a paralyzing poison. They both also possessed a low cunning that allowed them to use marginally more complex tactics than zombies, able to use harassment, ambushes and stalking to reach their foes. In the current age, ghouls and jiangshi in the military operate in the same manner as they did in the previous age, fighting in the same manner using claws and cunning. However, the enhanced intelligence and comely bodies that they now possess allows them to use a few more complex tactics such as impersonating humans and the power of speech.

The last main difference was the presence of humans in undead armies. The Vampires, Dullahans and Lichs of the previous age entirely perpetuated their kind (now they do so by both transforming humans and giving birth) by transforming humans and as such, undead kingdoms would always have an underclass of humans. While it was rare for a loyal human to be scent into battle by the upper-class undead above them since they could simply use lesser undead to fight their battle just as effectively, the basic zombies did not have the intelligence to effectively use ranged weapons. As such, when humans were sent into battle by their undead masters, they wielded ranged weapons such as bows and crossbows rather than being sent into the thick of battle. With the transition to the current age and all zombies able to gain intelligence, the human populations of undead kingdoms were killed and then raised as undead. This also makes it incredibly difficult to re-take territory that the undead gain control over as any population they come across will be killed and then raised.

Considering the leadership is mostly comprised of a teocracy, it's not outlandish to say they would use a unified language, kinda how with catholics priest all used to use latin for an oficial language.

The armies of the undead kingdom lack middling units, consisting of either weak units of zombies, ghosts and ghouls to very strong Wights, Vampires, Dullahans, Wraiths and other constructs. They lack warmachines and are lacking in ranged options, which take the form of either magic missiles used by casters, crossbows and bows used by zombie militia, or javelins and throwing weapons used by ghoul militia. Their lack of ranged units can be made up for by the abundance of flying creatures they have available and units able to move through terrain easily, allowing them to pick off ranged units and warmachines and then flank the melee line. Despite the gains in intelligence and stability that human sized undead have gained, the same has not occurred for undead constructs. Dire Wolves, Necrofex Collosi, Terrorgheists, undead horses and Abyssal Terrors all need a Necromancer of some kind to control and animate them or else they fall apart.

The undead kingdoms have a large variety of leaders. Liches, Vampires, Dullahans, Wight Queens/Princesses, Ghoul Queens/Princesses and Vargheists/Vargoyles form the varied upper ranks of an army of the undead.

Liches are the magical masters of the army. While Vampires, Dullahans and Ghoul Queens/Princesses will sometimes display magical abilities, Liches are above all of them in the magical arts. They maintain and create the various magical constructs that provide brute strength to an undead army, as well as maintain their numbers by resurrecting casualties that are sustained.

Vampires are incredibly powerful creatures and as a leader, combine martial prowess, magical capabilities and cunning military leadership into a single deadly character. Since they can pass as a human as easily as a succubus, they have also infiltrated many of their number into noble courts, either impersonating a noble or turning an existing noblewoman. Those with the capabilities of a vampire are not limited to being all female, husbands raised into an Incubus by a Vampire will display the same powers a female Vampire possess. The vampires can be divided into two bloodlines, the Von Carsteins and Lahmians. While physically identical, they operate a bit differently. The Von Carsteins are the most infamous of the two, preferring to rule their undead realms openly. Von Carsteins use their eldritch power to control dire wolves and attract swarms of mundane bats to support their armies. Black Coachs follow their armies to resurrect their kin and sap magic from the field. The Lahmians are the less infamous of the two and they prefer it that way. Beautiful human women from noble families are chosen to be given the Blood Kiss of the Vampire, who then strive to gain control of humans around them by cunning and intrigue. They prefer the ethereal variants of the undead for the ability to stay hidden.

The martial Dullahans are similar to the Vampires but with less magical abilities and more raw physical power, modeling themselves after the Knightly orders of human kingdoms. They prefer small, tactically flexible forces of elite troops as this allows plenty of scope for individual feats of arms.

The Wight Queens/Princesses operate like the Generals and Captains of human nations, capable fighters in both ranged and melee combat. The ability to drain the spirit energy out of their foes allows them to bypass the armor worn by enemies and lay low the strongest of Champions. While they operate in a similar manner to the Dullahans, they are quite a bit slower but more resilient, and will focus on enduring enemy attacks and then counterattacking rather than a powerful first strike like what's used by Vampires and Dullahans.

The Ghoul Queens/Princesses are the leaders of Ghoul packs in an undead army. Strong of limb, sharp of claw and possessing a bestial cunning, they lead Ghoul packs in placing themselves in advantageous positions or sometimes even go alone.

Vargheists/Vargoyles are flying creatures of the night, Werebats, Night Gaunts, Vampire Mosquitos or Gargoyles who have proven themselves above the rest will endeavor to lead packs of the Creatures of the Night into battle, snatching away sentries, flying over walls and generally being a nuisance to their foes. Sometimes, these leaders are a spell caster instead of a physical combatant, serving the same role as a Lich but flying, which gives the advantage of increased maneuverability.

The backbone and bulk of an undead army are provided by zombie soldiers. While trained to be decent fighters, they are often considered an afterthought compared to more glamorous units such as Dullahan Knights so they are lacking in professional tactics and discipline compared to the professional armies of other factions. Zombie Warriors have a diverse array of equipment available to them such as halberds, shields, spears and hand weapons and are sometimes well-armored as well.

Occasionally, an undead army will be padded out with fresh zombies. These zombies have not regained the minds they had in life and because of that, are incompetent fighters and require a Necromancer to direct them. Their only use in an undead army is to tie down enemy units and catch ranged fire. Naturally, undead armies will try to have fresh zombies regain their minds as quickly as possible in massive orgies.

Ghouls are an unarmored skirmisher unit who will try to flank around enemy armies in an envelopment tactic. Ghouls are even more dangerous than Zombie warriors, being considerably more agile, tougher and with poisoned claws. However, a lack of armor or overwhelming numbers makes them a poor front-line. They are reliant on flanking maneuvers to overwhelm the foe.

An elite unit of Ghouls is the Charnel Guard who are Ghouls that have become faster, stronger, more agile and more disciplined through experience. These Ghouls are also impressive scouts, able to lie in wait for hours to appear wherever needed when the time to engage and enemy army appears.

Humans are not the only creatures that undead are made from, the Dire Wolves are made from wolves as one would guess. A Dire Wolf is a macabre parody of the living wolves that roam the forests and badlands of the world. They have skull-like heads, rotting black fur, their flesh hangs in tatters from cracking bones and their skulls and innards are exposed through tears in the skin. The undead use such creatures as hunting hounds, gathering them in great packs around the castles and towers of undead lords. In battle, Dire Wolves will speed along the flanks of the undead army, driving away enemy cavalry and picking off small, vulnerable regiments or war machine crew. More care is taken in specific wolves called Doom Wolves, which are created to lead packs of Dire Wolves, glutting them on living cattle.

The creatures of the nights consist of a variety of races such a Gargoyles, Night Gaunts, Werebats and Vampire Mosquitos, all predators as dark as midnight and silent as death even when in full flight, that prey on men to take as husbands. When these monsters form a group, they will attack openly, carrying off individuals or overwhelming groups with inferior numbers.

When the armies of undeath go to war, they will bind swarms of otherwise mundane bats to go with them into battle perhaps even bringing so many that the skies above are obscured. When battle commences, hundreds of these animals descend on the enemy, nipping and clawing to distract the foe while the undead army closes in. Though each bat presents little threat to an armored warrior, they are excellent at disrupting formations flying in great swarms to make an enemy an easy target.

The Grave Guard are elite units consisting entirely of Wights. The resilience of Grave Guard are well-known throughout the nations of man, elf and dwarf. Their combination of stout shields, thick armor plates and undead resilience means that more than a simple sword blow will be required to stop them. Sometimes, they will abandon their shields for halberds and great weapons but the loss in defensive power is worth the gains in offensive power. In addition, the ability to drain the energy from targets that all Wights have makes them incredibly effective against armored or resilient foes as they sap the very life force from living enemies.

Black Knights are similar to the Grave Guard but mounted on the animated skeletons of horses. These skeletal steeds are trapped in a strange half-life by rituals, existing neither wholly in material world or the hereafter. They can pass through walls without hinderance, gallop at full speed across fen and morr, or charging across the surface of a lake without so much as a ripple, allowing them to crash into the ranks of any foe regardless of the terrain.

A little bit of that, but it also includes channeling or tapping into the dark forces that be since I think giving all of your energy to revive something sounds like a 1:1 ratio of a trade.

A corpse cart is an unnatural wagon filled with an orgy of the undead and driven by an undead ox. The Corpse Cart attracts magic like a magnet attracts metal, using its power to animate the undead around them and knit itself back together when damaged. Sometimes Corpse Carts have a brazier full of balefire or a great bell whose clapper is a fell lodestone of eldritch provenance. Each Balefire Brazier is unique and disrupts the minds of any wizard unused to that specific brazier, causing their spells to weaken. The bell rings whenever a of revival is cast on it, drawing undead who have been laid low back to their feet.

No Vampire starts off in the leadership of undead society, every one of them starts off as a handmaiden. Each Vampire woman is an exquisite beauty, but only ones with both cleverness and wit will ever ascend beyond the rank of Handmaiden, or be granted vampirism after starting as a human. While a Vampires true skills lie in courtside infiltration and the politics of subversion, they are still deadly foes on the battlefield. When Vampire Handmaidens fight on the battlefield, they form a lightly armored skirmisher unit, skilled at both ranged and missile combat.

Dullahan Knight are among the most fearsome cavalry in the world. Their training and discipline is enhanced by the unnatural speed and strength of a Dullahan. Dullahan Knights are nigh indestructible, riding through storms of arrow and shot. Such is their honour that they will fight at the forefront without question and it is thought that not even the Grail Knights of Lescatie can match them lance for lance. Dullahan Knights do not ride flesh and blood horses but undead steeds filled with unholy strength clad in thick barding painted with icons of necromantic power.

In a world saturated with magic, the dead do not rest easily. When a mortal dies, their essence will dissipate over time unless their body is revived with Necromancy. However, should the body be destroyed, some spirits may force themselves to remain in the mortal world, becoming the various kinds of Ethereal Undead. As spirits, they can turn invisible at will and are immune to mundane weapons. On the field of battle, these apparitions cluster together in vast hosts that drift towards their enemies with terrible inevitability. Even a cannonball strike will not damage a Spirit Host, for they exist only partially in this world. However, this twilight state does not render a spirit harmless, they can easily possess someone they reach or tear their soul out to join them.

Spirits who ride spectral horses are known as Reaper Knights, and are one of the most feared units of the undead. No guard or fortress can protect against them, simply passing through both as if they are not there. The scythe like weapons they use to hunt are lethal in the material world but since they shimmer between worlds, their scythes can pass through armor without hinderance. A blow from the spirit scythe snatches away a living mortals essence while leaving their physical form unharmed.

Among the greatest of Ethereal Undead are the Wraiths, the oldest and most powerful among them. They have gained the ability to drain the spirit energy out of mortal men like a Wight and their ethereal nature makes this even easier with no armor or flesh able to protect against it. Wraiths are excellent shock troops, able to scythe through entire garrisons with ease. Only the raw energies of magic or the well-placed blow of a magic weapon can slay one.

Equal or perhaps more dangerous than the Wraiths are experienced Phantoms, undead enchantresses. The nature of an ethereal undead bars them from conventional magic that those of flesh and blood enjoy. Instead, Phantoms can transmit their thoughts to others, which has been nicknamed "The Silent Howl", in battle, this is used to lull men unconscious. A very potent technique.

A Black Coach is a Coach with the remains of a powerful undead within it, drawn by a Wraith and pulled by grisly zombified horses. When powerful undead are slain, the remains are often burnt. This does not signal their demise, as their spirits can live on in these remains. If a follower of one of these monsters can gather the remains and place them within a coffin, the remains will be safe. This gives the servants time to perform rituals to bring them back. By creating a Black Coach the retainers of powerful undead can transport the rejuvenating form to places full of magical energy such as battlefields or monster orgies to hasten the regeneration of the undead's body. When the Black Coach absorbs a lot of magic in a short time, it transforms and grows stronger. The driver and steeds are invigorated with energy, the coach manifests spectral blades, it alights with witch-fire, forms a barrier against magic, starts to flicker between the world of the living and dead and even start to fly.

There have been many Master Liches throughout history, so saturated with power that their forms radiate magic. No mere casket or hearse would be fit to bear the remains of one of these masters of death. Instead, they are enshrined within a Mortis Engine, a cage of fused bone, surrounded by trappings of grandeur and borne to war by a host of spirits and banshees. The Mortis Engine is watched over by an apprentice necromancer who has been made inured to dire energies that emanate from it. When the locks are removed and the reliquary opened, the deadly artefact inside can be held aloft, stealing life from the enemy and energizing the nearby undead. The longer a battle rages, the more energies the artefact absorbs and the more powerful it becomes. Mortis engines are usually found where the fighting is thickest, drifting ominously near to the battleline where their power is needed. However, opening the reliquary is not without risk, its power can sometimes tear apart the engine itself. If such a relic is shattered on the battlefield, the release of magic has been known to smite everything in the vicinity. Some reliquaries also carry fell tomes into battle, the winds of magic becoming nigh uncontrollable when near such a tome. These books are a boon to the practitioners of Necromancy but are the bane of reckless and unwary spellcasters.

The art of necromancy has born many a morbid creation into the world and one of the most terrifying is the Necrofex Colossus. Only Necromancers of singular power and vision are able to fashion one. These colossi vary in size and composition, but always hold true to a basic form, a monstrous humanoid shape fashioned upon a frame of timber, iron and bone onto which the flesh and musculature of the dead have been bound and shaped. In addition to possessing a powerful frame, a Necrofex Collossus is a lodestone of dark forces, making casting death related magic easier in its presence.

One of the most ostentatious mounts for a female vampire to ride is the Coven Throne, a gilded palanquin born aloft by a swarm of ghostly spirits. Vampires are self-indulgent and take great pains to present themselves in splendour and majesty at all times. As such, a Coven throne is bedecked with rare artefacts and strewn with silk-embroidered cushions and other finery. The Coven Thrones also contain great enchanted bowls full of the blood of beasts, within which the handmaidens accompanying the Vampire Lady can scry the future. Any who focus on the Coven throne to attack it risk getting ensorcelled, inhibiting their ability to attack or causing them to turn on each other.

In hidden reaches, titanic bats the size of dragons known as Terrorgheists soar out from their caves to hunt. Terrogheists have poor vision, but will render its foes motionless by emitting an ear piercing shriek. A creature so powerful in life is just as powerful in death, streaking through the clouds or blotch-skinned pinions. When undead, it's shriek is transformed from mundane sound to a blast of eldritch power, able to knock people out for hours. By venting this unholy noise, a Terrorgheist can cripple an enemy regiment before it slams into the reeling survivors. Worse yet, Ghoul Queens have been known to ride these fearsome creatures, forming a terrifying partnership.

Normally, the pride of a dragon cannot be overcome in the service of allowing someone to ride her, not so for the Zombie Dragon. A man that she has married will be raised up to be equal to a Vampire or Dullahan. As such, these powerful warriors will sometimes ride their wife into battle. While a zombified dragon is not as formidable as a living one, the terrifying partnership of rider and mount can break entire regiments and new regiments of undead can be formed each time she breathes her pestilent breath.

A female monster could never convince a Zombie Dragon to let them ride her. However, there is a workable, if inferior way around this. Many Vampires, Lichs and Dullahans have created the Abyssal Terror, crafted out of dozens of animal corpses. Abyssal Terrors have no fixed form, being based on the preference of the builders, who have moulded the flesh like clay to form horrible winged monstrosities, some are spined, some have vicious claws, some have venom-tipped tails, all are dangerous.

The Skeletal Steed has already been mentioned as a mount for Wights but another such mount that Wight Queens/Princesses use is the Barrow Chariot, ridden by a Wight Queen/Princess and pulled by skeletal steeds able to travel any terrain. These Barrow Chariots advance along battle lines, ready to break battle lines under their wheels.

Vampires and Dullahans do not ride to battle upon mounts of mortal flesh and blood. They instead ride the zombified carcasses of dead warhorses, animated by magic. Their shadowy flanks shimmer with magical energy, their eyes glow like hot coals and their hooves burn with a magical flame. Some of these undead mounts have great wings sewn to their sides, allowing them to fly in a cruel mockery of the Pegasi of the faithful.
