>>76993375I like too many of them, but some standouts.
The vraal were my first real introduction to berserker type creatures that literally live for violence, so they stick out, and the first meeting in the woods was really a good first impression. Fucking thing has no eyes because those are a weak point, so those were bred out, I seem to recall.
Ols were terrifying, not just for being infiltrators, but there true forms were freaky. They looked like they were made of white flame, but their touch was cold enough to burn people to death.
Dude in the valley of the lost with those 4 beasts attached to him with fleshy cords was a god-tier book villain, and very creepy.
I thought the ak-baba were cool for being essentially fake dragons that still fulfill their purpose, somewhat.
Glus was a particular brand of nightmare fuel. I remember the descriptions of the maze of the beast. You can hear the glus' squelching noises reverberating all around the maze so you cannot tell what direction it's coming from. It could shoot silk from it's mouth that smothers people and immobilizes them, and it's maze is made of hardened silks. What freaked me out was when
Lief saw the skeletons that were embedded in the walls and noticed that the silk was pouring on his shoulders when he rested against a wall and connected the dots and realized that even stopping for a short rest can trap you for the glus. Can't rest long, and can't sleep, but have to find some way out. Fucking terrifying. If ever a gems calming influence was needed, it was now. Also, it's possible origin story always creeped me out, for some reason. The fucking sand beasts were terrifying, and so was the desert core. Unexplained beast that wants random objects, and is causing the red desert to grow larger.
The guardians of the 4 sisters, the fear, which was possibly just one of the many sea monsters infesting the oceans, that one kaiju the sisters were keeping asleep, and the later grey tide.
