>>238646602I don't want to be more cynical than I usually am, but this feels more like them testing the waters for co-opting ownership of long-running serials in case the author dies/refuses to continue to keep the cashcow going. I doubt it's that deep, but it'll be interesting seeing how the newer mangaka are treated as far as getting the rights to their serials, assuming their churn out a break-out hit.
>>238646648Thank God for that, though I hope Oda actually rests and does something fun with his family with that extra time, even he's away for an extra week.
>>238646861>>238646979>>238646762I still don't believe this is real, Spice and Wolf getting a third season after so long. What's next more Durarara? Bastard! Getting a new anime is ridiculous enough. Then again, Fruits Baskets actually got a relatively complete anime, so there's no telling what's in store. We just need a new Slayers anime maybe Kaiji, Gin to Kin or Zero.
>>238646804While this holds true; I'd rather some older series stay dead, instead of being brought back and poorly adapted or riddled with bad CGI or a rogue producer making his own changes. In general, this is a lose-lose situation unless it's being animated as a labor of love, with people who care about the material they're working with, coupled with an all-star lineup of directors brought in; which is rare. Even then, most anime nowadays isn't made to promote the manga/VN/LN/source material and the other way around, so, like with the most recent Ippo anime adaptation, even if none of that horrible shit above happens to it, you still have to contend with worrying about how whoever handles it will be working towards appealing to people who don't even give a shit about the source material.
