>>238650585Guts' struggle with his rage has changed substantially over the post Eclipse story. In shape and in what happens to Guts himself in it.
Its the very first personality trait we get for Guts as a character in the beginning of the manga, its something that will take a long time to deal with in story. But even so the melancholic shift that happens as Guts begins to fall apart and become more and more broken down, is something that is reflected in how that 'inner dog' has its role and form change.
Going from wanting to destroy everyone and everything to wanting to escape it all to wanting to leave everyone behind and go off on his own against the world.
Isidro's character changed substantially, not only in his maturity in meeting what he's against. But also in his mindset.
He was a character in the middle of his development and purposefully wasn't going to be written to turn into some traumatized adult-before-his-time character like Guts. He's meant to embody a Guts that didn't go down the wrong path and end up violated and twisted.
Serpico isn't the most dynamic character, but his role as the closest thing to a check against Guts and as the caretaker for the group is an important one. Him challenging Guts during the invasion by Ganishka was a fantastic character moment.
Casca stands out as the biggest missed opportunity writing-wise. That was a mistake on Miura's part.
The Golden Age section was severely lacking in characters outside of Guts, Casca, and Griffith. Most of the Band of the Hawk ranged from faceless to barely having personalities. There were some that got decent time on page, but most barely existed. That aspect of building a proper dynamic within the group is a highlight of Post-Eclipse Berserk.
