It gets so annoying having to hear people from my area(Appalachia) talk about how they were the greatest band of the 70s. I get that they were great and grew up listening to them, but they were nowhere near the best band of the 70s. Hell they weren't even the best of Southern Rock either - The Allman Brothers & CCR were. They weren't even really influential either, Ronnie even said how the majority of their music was inspired by Free.
