Rural-Ex General

Anyone on /mu/ listening to Rural-Ex?

Rural-Ex is a distant cousin to Metro-Ko, but it borrows more from it's parent genre, Vapourwave. Rural-Ex is largely sample based. Using lo-fi samples of farm animals such as cows, pigs, and horses, old pop-country hits, and minimal analog electronic instrumentation, Rural-Ex constructs an atmosphere of agricultural desolation and a distinctly rural form of nostalgia.

Some notable artists in Rural-Ex are c0wp0k3, 恥垢HORSE恥垢, and lost-farm, all of whom have released their music on the D△ISYD▼KES netlabel.

daily album challenge

!UnOOHqF9yo No.47166061 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
How many new albums do you listen to daily? If you're not listening to at least one every day, let's challenge ourselves to do so this coming June.

>why should I accept the challenge?

-Without your point of view, we lose another perspective that might be useful in helping us appreciate the art.
-Greater and forced consumption allows us to appreciate the variety of music as a whole
-We gain that much more access to connecting with our fellow friends on our beautiful music board

You can even start now!

>Tell us which album you'll be listening to
>what were some high moments? What about it's lows?
>overall, did it teach you anything new about the artist's capabilities that you hadn't known beforehand?

Good luck friends, happy travelings.

> I remember reading about a composer named Steve Reich who came up with a new idea called phasing, which is like windshield wipers going in and out of synch. Apparently he was caught in a traffic jam one rainy day and the rhythm of the windshield wipers caught his attention and he applied what he heard to his musical compositions. He has had a significant influence on contemporary music, and I think he’s a great example of an innovator. Sometimes new ideas can come from something as mundane and functional as your windshield wipers. The key is to pay attention and keep your brain and senses open to new stimuli.
