I have GOT to get out of this fucking town. been here far too long, out in boise butt-fuck Idaho. let's just say I'm a stoner- for good enough reasons, and I've chosen a career in music (reggae, blues, alt.) and cinema/online media, both for genuine interest and cause. but my environment is completely zapping my strength away. I'm sure had I not gotten the important realizations I did here 6 or so years back, I might've even wanted to become part of this stagnant, bigoted society I see around me, but how could I possibly stay here now? with dreams that could take me anywhere, but no road out of here, I'm feeling seriously ill. so, if you might, list off your top five favorite reggae/ska/alt albums you'd listen to to calm that sort of illness.

the only ones I could think of were:
#5 rebelution- courage to grow
#4 the expendables- gettin' filthy/Open Container
#3- slightly stoopid- Everything You Need
#2- sublime- 40 oz. to freedom
#1- pepper- kona town

Call me a faggot but can /mu/ rec me some really good obscure cassette releases, but like releases that have only been released on cassette and nothing else (including the internet).
Obviously I'd prefer it to be something with an existing rip circulating online like on what.cd or something.

My girlfriend just said she really likes the screaming of the Bring me the horizon singer and she really likes that kind of metal.

How to explain her what metal really is?

Just went record shopping and found some cool stuff for cheap. Among them was a Skin Yard album that wasn't in the archive. Payed 2 dollars for it, what a terrific deal! If anyone wants something from the earlier years of grunge, give it a try

So, the internet seems to be losing its mind that Taylor Swift won a bunch of shit and Kendrick Lamar didn't. I decided to listen to 1989 and TPAB today. Both were exactly what I expected. 1989 was radio-ready bubblegummy pop. Thinking back on it, I can't remember anything distinctively. TPAB was exactly what I expected too. Socially-conscious rap with plenty of niggas and pussy and drugs and shit. As with 1989, it all blended together after a while.

So, I'm curious, what did Kendrick Lamar do on his album that made it so much better?
