There is no merit on the instrumentation really ! The integrality of the track is played with "fake" guitars, bass and drum machines (aka VST's). Just reaaaally good samples and mastering I guess.

Also, this is 100% written by me.

All in all, thanks a lot of the commentary !

no shit? you aren't kidding I can usually tell synthed guitars apart from organic ones. Were they actually synthesized or were you using samples? either way great job with the melodic construction, even if you tracked all that out in a DAW it's still musically impressive

I actually listened to NLDW for the first time about a week ago because I was scared of being disappointed because everyone said it was shit, but it was actually really good, but I felt like it had some filler. The really great tracks like Come Up And Get Me, No Love, and Bass Rattle Stars Out The Sky totally make up for it though.

This is the only time they've ever said the word "faggot" on any of their releases, which is why they stopped sharing DGEP. Unless it was also because they felt it wasn't that great of a work anyways. And they put half of the EP on Exmilitary anyways.

The song "Death Grips" is kind of revived through that sample of MC Ride screaming "IT'S DEATH GRIPS" that's used in a few of their tracks on Exmilitary and also during their live shows when they play it out of the speakers.

Alright, just as promised

The keys sound very nice, and I'm enjoying the rhythmic and melodic interplay of the instruments as a whole. As I used to kind of make stuff like this in the fusion context, I can offer a few pointers:

The distorted tone of the guitar is a tad muddy and drags down the piece as a whole
The bass needs some more presence in the mix, as do the drums
Some of the sections have a rhythmic lapse here and there, but I'm sure that was most likely intentional

Still, great playing, and the song structure is surely entertaining

Thank you so much. I always need constructive criticism as a producer. I'll probably add a high-pass filter to the guitars to make them stand out in the mix. I've always had trouble mixing bass so I understand your point. It's either too loud or too soft. I should probably compress the track more to have more control over the dynamics. Oh, and the rhythmic lapses were caused by a faulty export of the files that I overlooked. I was hoping someone would notice that.
