“What else?” you reply , drawing your own swords. “We kill 'em until we run out.”

“I was expecting something more complicated.”

You shrug. “Sometimes the best plan is not to overthink it.”

That being said this does present a serious problem, one that you haven't had to cope with in a long time: exhaustion. You managed to partially recover from your accelerated Ura Hadō training with your zanpakuto, which brought you to the brink of death, but the fight with hollow-Muramasa and your first actual usage of the new spell you learned have undone some of that. You can't be sure how much more sustained effort you can put in before the last few days truly start to catch up with you.

It would be best to end this as quickly as possible, with as little effort on your part as you can get away with, but your companions have been fighting nonstop for just as long as you have. Yoruichi's still good to go, and the efficiency of Mirai's zanpakuto means she's probably spent the least energy getting to this point out of everyone present. But even Hitsugaya, Suì Fēng, and Rangiku are showing some sign of strain. Hitsugaya apparently still struggles to maintain his immature Bankai for this long, and Little Bee isn't really cut out for this sort of protracted battle in the first place.

As your muscles deflate and the built up, high pressure steam leaves your body you heave a couple of times before your system recovers.
While it was much better than last time, partly because now you cancelled Assault Mode normally, it still managed to take a toll on you.
Several of the muscles in your upper body either cramped or got damaged by the insanely taxing technique.

While you are still hunching forward the hollows who accompanied you stare upwards in disbelief.
"Holy shit..." one of them mutters.

As your head clears you look back at them and they stand at attention and they don't even dare to make a sound.
"sigh... At ease boys.
I'm not going to kill you or anything."

They start to relax after you say that, clearly you managed to scare the piss out of them.
"S-sorry boss.
I've just never seen you in action from so close before."

"It's alright.
This was a bit of a unique thing anyway.
Also, don't call me boss.
Kaizar is just fine."

"R-right...
So what do we do now?"

You look over your handiwork once more now that you are more collected.
It seems that your increased bodyheat managed to purge most of the alcohol from your system.

The sight is quite gruesome, a couple hollow corpses completely eviscerated while a few others had been disintegrated from the waist up.
You still remember what you did, you weren't that drunk but these results are still surprising.
It seems you really didn't pull your punches this time.

You scratch the back of your head and sigh a little.
"We gather whatever is left of these poor bastards and take it home.
At least they'll make good fertilizer."

"Roger!"
They speak up in unison.

The Chosen one is walking past your hideout, surrounded by two dozen adventurers from Hongenstone, the Merciful Sisters, The Blackfeathers, Shockdance, Malkals Marauders and one group you don't know but seems to be lightly armoured and favouring spears as their weapons.

You have a bunch of skeletons and zombies, and two undead trolls. When everyone is in place you have your hand, and the attack begins!

Skeletons and zombies flood down two alleyways on the left of the group, crashing into the adventurers on that flank like a wave. As expected they hold their ground against the weak undead but more of the adventurers are pulled from the front, rear and right flank to support them.

The two trolls tearing into the right flank draw attention back to that side, leaving the front and rear defences stretched very thin.

Yelling loudly, you and Kittrane charge from the rear; every available adventurer races to fight you, blocking you from attacking the chosen one.

Every one except the human wizard Jennath at least. Chame hangs back in her disguise just in case....

Nevyn Leaps from a rooftop towards the chosen one, only for an air elemental to appear out of well, air, and throw her back the way she came, spinning through the air and clawing wildly, until she lands in the next street over, sounding pretty angry.

Still, it gives Chame the opening she needs – all alone with the chosen one, she simply swings her staff at head height and knocks the young acolyte out cold, 'winning' the encounter. A loud bell-like noise in Chame's vicinity announces her success.

Of course, that now leaves you all facing two dozen angry adventurers, and for once even Chame looks worried by the amount of attention she's receiving, rather than feeding off it.

You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!

Currently, though, you were doing less actual combat operations and more repeated and numerous rehearsals for the big refloating ceremony for the USS Constitution, of which the President of the United States himself would be participating. Because of this, everything had to be picture perfect, as well as smoothly coordinated with the local authorities and the dozens upon dozens of security agencies being pulled in to protect both the event and the President. You swear that the entire Boston Harbor was practically being occupied by a small army.

Then again, your own role was simple enough. You'd all sail out and keep pace with the Constitution as it sailed out of the harbor for a few miles before turning around and returning to dock, past the huge and adoring crowds. Shouldn't take more than an hour or so.

Assuming nothing went wrong.

But with all the security in the harbor, and the presence of a full carrier battlegroup vigilantly guarding the open waters outside, chances of some kind of Abyssal attack were extremely low. Nevertheless, since the country was still in a state of open war, you and the rest of your task force were all authorized to carry live ammunition, just in case.

You are Adrian Brown, a twenty five year-old third-year medical student living an otherwise normal American life in search of employment. For the first time in weeks, you dreamed. At first, you dream of home. It was a place with wide open bright blue skies without a cloud for miles. You’d spend hours while you were a little kid just looking into it, waiting for something to happen, or watching the F-4’s of the National Guard rocketing over towards the air-base nearby. Someone new is beside you though, even though you were always alone doing this back home. A face you recognize, but one you don’t remember.

“They’re beautiful aren’t they?” he asks you, and when you look down you’re wearing your fortified suit.

“Yeah. They’re beautiful.” There was something about these old TSF’s you were looking at, the bulk, the angling, and how they flew all creating a sort of charm you couldn’t deny. They were the alpha and omega in your young mind, how one of these machines should work.

When you got to fly one in training, you nearly cried. That little kid inside of you came back for a few minutes. Hell, you probably chose to go for A-12 training despite qualifying hand over fist to pilot Super Hornets simply because the A-12 reminded you more of those flying giants from when you were younger. The pay boost was nice too though, which was probably more important for you.

“Do you blame yourself for what happened?” your companion asks you as the world flickers away from the idealistic memories of your childhood. Instead, quiet darkness surrounds you, as if waiting for your answer.

“I killed them.”

“That isn’t a good answer.” Your companion sighs, clapping you on the back. His face is still on the verge of recognition, but he’s wearing a suit identical to your own, as you find yourself once again strapped into the cockpit of the A-12.

You make your way around the town of Cifigo which is split, more or less into four quarters. A great deal of the town's fame comes from its Temple Quarter, with a temple to each of the 9 Gods of the land. It has a wharf along the river where one might find warehouses repurposed from old ruins, alongside similar taverns and brothels for the boatmen on the river. There is a merchant's quarter built around an ancient ampitheatre which serves as a market. Most of the new construction and residences have expanded like the spokes of a wagon around this marketplace. And finally is the Dwarven Quarter, by far the smallest, where dwarves try to practice their traditional metalworking crafts, jeweler's work, and the oft-loathed practice of banking.

The question now is where will you find a jeweller or similar merchant to appraise your loot from the dungeon.

Zephyr rolls her eyes. “Enough from the peanut gallery.” She sighs. “It isn’t like I haven’t broken the law before, and I’m guessing that normal social contacts that I’m familiar with don’t really apply. However, I did try to be moral, or at the very least non-violent.”

Not everyone deals with waiting in the same way.

Howa, for example, seems perfectly at ease with waiting. As you approach the clearing, you spot her straight away. She sits with her good leg folded neatly under her, her prosthetic lying straight out from her body. She leans back, resting against the trunk of a thick, healthy tree and lets the sunlight fall down upon her face. Just looking at her, you feel a rare sense of peace.

Koa, on the other hand, takes to waiting like a caged animal. The grass around his side of the clearing is bent, trampled and broken by his pacing. Now, he sits at the foot of a tree, one just as thick as the one Howa leans up against, and whittles away with a small knife. Slivers of wood litter the ground around him, a testimony to his nervous carving.

Then you clear your throat, announcing your arrival. Koa turns and gives you a lazy wave. Howa, though, she stands to meet you so fast that she almost falls over, with only a hasty grab for the tree keeping her upright.

Maybe she wasn't so calm after all.

Previously you heard Tabby's story about her time in the palace and why she wanted to kill the now dead merchant woman. According to her, the woman was a cruel, sadistic monster that would torture her and the others mercilessly. However, she swore she was dead when she got there and that she immediately came home after she saw what had happened.

Afterward, the three Nine Tails spies aboard your ship came forward as Kakei promised, revealing their identities and explaining everything they know about the murders.

You then examined the crime scene and managed to find a small pouch of poison used to feign death. Upon taking it to Wong, the only person in the city you know that would know about where to find something like that. He said he doesn't sell the stuff and told you to look elsewhere, then hurried you out of his shop like usual.

Then, you gathered up Tabby and the twins (whom you're pretty sure view themselves as your personal bodyguards now) and headed to the burnt out town of Blakkaz so the poor redhead could pay her respects. Little did you know, Blakkaz wasn't quite abandoned and two men were still hanging out outside, apparently living in the ruins; Devith and Chris. Tabby apparently knows them, but is just as shocked to see them there as you were.

Last time, you verbally eviscerated Squad B's sniper after he insulted your paint job, got beaten up and recruited into a plot by Lieutenant Alice C. Farragut, received helpful advice from your mechanic, met a loose girl, and then met a nice but assertive one who dragged you on a date. During the course of this date, you and Naomi Heim followed Ensign Young to a church, where he met his girlfriend-apparent and they exchanged words.

Right now, you're trying not to laugh as Naomi imitates Lysa, complete with gratuitous eyelash-batting and mouthing along dramatically with her words. She's doing a fairly good imitation, too.

Nothing's better than lazing under the sun on a nice and warm day, especially out at sea, the breeze is so much softer on the waves than off of them. I'm almost tempted in actually letting myself fall asleep for once, it feels so nice. I might even just drift off into the land of nightmares, if it wasn't for Ochamu tugging on my hair and braiding it as she giggles like a school girl.

It's nice having a lazy day sometimes, especially with friends. I smile as I push my cap up, just in case I actually do start drifting off. Yotshi is sitting next to me, which is funny cause I didn't even notice him there. He's asleep with a big complicated looking book in his lap, and a lot of ink on his face, with doodles that I'm guessing jack or maybe...just maybe ochamu drew on him.

I giggle as he snores and falls over, as a few other marines practice with jeb, swinging axes around and dressing like him, or as much as captain would let them. Nice to see the old timer in such good spirits after the whipping I gave him, it makes me smile.

"Stop moving" Ochamu says sternly as she tugs on my hair, making Ajax wake up and stare up at me, meowing in annoyance as he tries to find the comftarble spot on my legs again "I don't want to have to do all of this again you know"

"Oh don't even lie, I know you would" I say flatly, as I realize how dull everything feels...I need a coffee "Besides you know they aren't going to stay"

"Awww but you look so cute with them" Ochamu huffs, as she grabs a handful of my hair as gently as I can "Can't you just leave them in once, for me?"

"Well, It's not like anyone else would notice them, now is it" I say glancing back at her, as I try to undo one of the braids brushing against my cheek "So there's no real point to it is there?"

"Oh" Ochamu says, her voice deflating in an instant
