"What kind of big company?" Derrick asks.
"Gimme a second" Ilica replies.

"Maybe they're friendly" You say.
"If you think that, you should go give whatever it is a big hug" Ilica says.
"Yuu, give her a minute please" Emi says.

"Kay" You reply.

Ilica shuts her eyes, and her ears continue to move about. After a few seconds of listening, she raises a hand.

"That way. Doesn't sound huge, but it's getting closer very quickly" She says.
"Tastess like blood..." Emi says. You turn to see her sniffing the air, and every couple of seconds her little forked tongue flicks out.

Hang on, she has a normal tongue. You've seen it when she talks. Does Emi have a second little tongue in her mouth?

"6 legs" Ilica says.
"Can we outrun it?" Derrick asks.

You see something on her face. It's only there for a moment, but it looked like she was afraid.

"I don't know" Ilica says.

“How'd you get burned, anyway?”

You look down at the young man who's carefully re-wrapping your arms loosely with gauze, the fresh coat of antiseptic ointment still cool on your skin. You fix the poor orderly with a cold, flat stare.

“I hugged the flaming ghost-corpse of my dead Executive Officer in a nightmare.”

The young man pauses mid-wrapping, his face splitting into a grin. “Duuude, SPOOKY!” His tone rings with frank approval.

Despite everything, you can't help but laugh. “Yeah, I suppose so.”

The nurse finishes wrapping your arms. “Okay, move about.” You oblige. “Yeah, that should stay for today.” He tidies up as you shrug your khaki shirt back on, relieved to find your shirtsleeves are no longer rubbing your tender, reddened skin too much. “Your chart says you're on Vicodin. You take that yet today?”

You nod - after spending the night duct-taped to a folding table in the CIC, you were in no shape to forgo them. “I'll get used to it in a few days, I guess.”

“Should clear up in a week,” the nurse assures you. He claps you on the shoulder, and hustles off - you've no doubt he's got his hands full. The C-5 that returned your girls from Java also bore some of the worst-injured men from the second battle of Sunda Strait; some were sent directly to the best hospitals in Japan via helicopter airlift, and some ended up here. Your sleep - if you could call it that - came late, after an hour or so of sniggering, snarling and muttered maledictions as Goto wrapped up the battle in your stead, managing the retreat.

At least you had finally started to tan- your Middle-Eastern soup heritage would certainly help in that respect, although you planned on working really hard to avoid getting Terrorist Hair. You were not going to deal with the Terrorist Ali jokes again, especially since the last round of “Fuck Euros, Draw Aggro” from ISIS before things went to shit.
You sincerely hoped those fuckers had become zombies and ate each other to death. Serves them right. Now you had to get to work and pick between the engines and the stills…

She's letting her words get sloppy. There is no way that she's not as dizzy as you.

"Weakling" She accedes the point anyway and flops down next to you, just a little closer than usual. Her scars glint slightly in the light, guiding your eyes along her jaw, and along her cheeks to her oak brown nose, slightly flat, hinting that she's not just a short elf. As she leans her back against your shoulder her eyes close, and you see just a hint of a smile cross her lips.

"I don't need to out drink them" her shoulder-length hair is tickling your nose "I just need to out drink you. You'll do the rest."

"You couldn't out drink me if you cheated!"

"Oh yeah? how about another drink?"

"Here's a better idea. How about a competition. Loser has to kiss the winner!"

You feel the blush spreading up from your chest. There's a moment in here somewhere.

"You don't have to beat me to get me to do that..."

Your lips meet, for just the briefest moment, in an upside down kiss that gives you a wonderful view of her chest.

" I... Alright. Winner gets a favour to hold at a later date."

"You're on!"

The waitress yeti shouts towards the back of the inn. Placing one hand behind your back she directs you over to the bar where a yeti, obviously her dad, is standing.

The waitress brings her arm from your back and onto your head from behind and ruffle your hair

"She's a cutie" she says while turning to you with a grin. You try batting off her hand but that only provokes rougher ruffling.
"... but that's not why. Here, take a look"

"A letter from Druzag? No mistaken these crow scratches, how he runs a knight order with this kind of handwriting is a mystery"

You are left standing there while he glances over the letter.

"Mina, why don't you go let our friend here... I assume you are Alex from the letters right?"

You nod, but it's not that easy to convey your affirmation as Mina is keeping it up. By the judge of her fathers indifferent look it seems like this is par on course for the yeti.

"Why don't you sit her down and get her something to eat, I need to go back to the kitchen and talk with your mother."
"And tell you brother to cover the bar in the meanwhile will you?"

The hand slips down your back again and pushes you along the tables, passing by the patrons whom are eating, drinking, talking, laughing or arguing. You come to halt in front a table where a group is drinking heavily despite it still being early evening.

"And no shit, there I was in this clusterfuck of a goblins den, the right passage had collapsed, the left one was being overrun and.."

Mina kicks the bench so hard the other yeti, her brother you presume, nearly falls backwards spilling some of his mug

"Jarl, dad needs you behind the bar"
Looking up she has a slightly annoyed look

Side Mission/quest ideas

I'm running a SOF game that relies heavily on small unit tactics and just got a text saying everyone is up to play tonight. The problem is I have no mission. /tg/, I am requesting immediate support. I'll lay out the team roster:

Sgt. with medical skills( disgraced Doctor) and a deranged sense of humor
Intel guy that loves to use his SMG and demo charges
Comms guy that tries to be by the book and says he hopes to work a 9-5 if he could get over the thrill
Point man who enjoys being a tunnel snake and collects dog tags to send back to families
Repurposed Morton man who is acting marksman and is only in it to keep his alimony checks paid off

Modern day setting, they are currently a "reliable yet hated Team" style of play that rely heavily on the fact they don't get paid enough to care who their shooting at. So, any good missions that will throw them for a loop, yet won't take more than one 5 hour session.

And to top it all off, long chains rattle about on its back, idly wrapping themselves around air as if waiting to be commanded.

On this abstract thing sits an orc, holding an U shape ending stick that's twice as long as him, he supports the other end with the thing's back. His muscles are tightened by black straps of leather and bulge out because of it, and his eyes look nothing what you could consider to be normal. They're deranged, staring at you not like you were a piece of meal, but a mere object.

The cages still rattle from the over-aggressive malnourished carnivores, itching for a fight to happen. It would appear that this place where your kindred souls are tortured and kept in cages way too small for them will be your battlefield.

It's like the sort of situation where you're in a tight space and you're carrying a crate or something, and someone else with another crate comes from the other side, and you see them coming, and you know you can't both pass at the same time and yet, for some reason, you will always meet at the tightest possible point where one of you will have to back up.

But when you do, so does the other, and then you take a step forward and so does the other, and you awkwardly dance and exchange embarrassed stares trying to out-read each other but constantly fail and you can't help it and it happens all the time.

This is pretty much what's been happening with Bryld, who's clinging to your arm, pushing her considerably-sized and soft breasts against your upper arm. She also sounds somewhere between the disappointed, the frustrated, the confused and some other feeling, though she's not completely inexcusable given her lack of experience.

Your other partners have been awkward at times but they were also more straightforward. She claims that her city girl friends weren't as shy as she is which means you just had the luck to get a very special case of indecisive virgin.

Well, not totally indecisive, it seems like she's made up her mind about doing something, but she's kind of shoving all the initiative and responsibility on you.

The sun is starting to set, you're sitting in the tall grass in the outskirts of New Royo, relatively close to the building Tahenohan has been making cheese in all day. You have dinner with you, plus some extra food for your next trip, which will bring you to Maner. It may be a while before you come back here.

The silence is a bit awkward but the situation itself is not unpleasant, and even Bryld seems quite relaxed after all.

But she has surrendered. And her inner defenses surrender with her. The layers of the fire wall unfold like the soft petals of a lotus and lay themselves humbly at your feet.

The fire wall quakes and trembles with emotion. Rays of mortification shoot off like solar coronas. But the skin of the fire wall vibrates like ripples on water and each wave reveals itself to you as fear. Her neural net vibrates that one emotion across projections of her future. She knows she belongs to you know. And expects little mercy. But they also cross into projections of her past.

She is a goddess that is being stripped of her godhead and maidenhead all at once and she does not know how this contradiction can be.

Fox Fire is very confused and very afraid.

You're stirred awake by the sense that something is wrong.

You look around, and see Ilica, Derrick, and Fran talking about something... so wha-

Emi mumbles something, and her coils tighten around you.

"E-em-i" You say, before you can't talk anymore and it starts to get hard to breathe.

You look up to where the others are talking, and thankfully Ilica takes notice. She walks over and bops Emi on the head.

"Wake up you friggin bum, before you kill the poor guy" Ilica says.
"Bwuh" Emi says as she opens her eyes, she looks around and then down at you. You force out a smile, and she looks horrified. "Oh, I'm so sorry!"

The coils loosen and release as Emi slithers out from around you. "I didn't mean to squeeze like that..." She says.
"Nightmares?" Ilica asks.
"S-sssomething like that" Emi says. "Are you alright?"
"Still breathing" You say. "Heart's still bea-... err... I guess not"

Ilica's eyes drift down to your chest. "And you don't remember how that happened, huh?" She asks.
"Nope" You say as you stand up. "Is that bad?"
"Maybe not" Emi says. "It looks painful..."

"I think it did" You say. "It still hurt a bit when I was in the cave"
Ilica raises an eyebrow at you. "You're awfully chipper about this" She says.
"Well... it doesn't hurt now" You say. "That's good, isn't it?"

Ilica covers her face with her hand... or is it a paw? Would she get mad if you called it a paw?

Maybe she'd get mad if you called it a hand...

Either way, she covers her face with her handpaw, and sighs.

She seems annoyed...

LAST TIME: We went out on a little date with Makoto, unfortunately touching on some issues she had lingering over her late brother. Upon visiting his grave, we received a call from Nighthawk, who gave us an ultimatum: deliver Knightmare's corpse to the Peacekeeper's, or we would be excommunicated and targeted, along with other people.

Knightmare promptly appeared and spilled out identity as the Avatar of Truth, deeply wounding Makoto for not telling her, which she perceived as us knowing we might die on her like her brother. Knightmare told us she just needed time; for now, we had a job to steal a corpse from the morgue to pose as Knightmare.

You stare glassy-eyed at the dim glow of the computer. It's the only thing your eyes have focused on for the past few hours, and it's not been great for them. Rubbing your eyes softly, you blindly walk towards the window, opening the blinds. Bathed in sunshine, you let it warm your body before giving an immodest scratch at your genitals.

It was a shitty night. Hell, it was a shitty day prior. You always felt terrible to have someone upset with you. Who wouldn't? Multiply that feeling indefinitely when it's someone you especially care about, like Makoto.

Casting a glance at your phone, you bite your lip. Would it be worth it to send a text? Would she even care to read it? You know Makoto is a very rational girl deep down, just...emotions first, thinking later. Maybe having a night of sleep is good for her. Better for her than you since you didn't sleep a wink.

Send her a text?

So far in life, you've had good days.
Yesterday was not one of them. After six days of lounging your ass off on a cruise ship, the zombie apocalypse that had been breaking out in major cities (and a large part of why you decided a cruise was a good idea) decided that your ship was a wonderful place to break out. Four hours of Half Life 2: Shitty Beach Chair Edition, and you had managed to batter, brain, and butcher the zombie cruise goers into a pulp that had tried to get between you and the lifebot deck. After stealing one and turning one of the many, many bars on the ship into a Helsinki Breadbasket, you launched off the side of the ship with a smile and a wave.

Now you were loose on the open sea, the old cruise ship had been burning, and you were fairly certain that rescue was a forgone conclusion. That left only one recourse. Piracy on the open seas, in the midst of a zombie apocalypse that was driving civilization to it's knees.

Somewhere deep inside your soul, you plan on having fun with this.

So, why are you about to destroy it? It's a funny story.

You are Jack Albator, champion drinker, taster of fine ale, connoisseur of fluffy tails. You're here for one very specific reason: to foil another attempt on the place you call home.
The whole day has been nothing but foiling attempts on your home. It seems a very sinister nation has infiltrated the neighboring nation of Gallete and has been using its tools against you. One of which is a brand of special forces which Gallete employs for special political missions. Unfortunately, it's very lenient on who it answers to and what it considers a 'political mission'.

After getting to the bottom of that; you were faced with the possibility that the threat was not over. Yet another group, one that was actually smart enough to not make an attempt on your life in broad daylight, is still out there and waiting for the signal to strike.

Hopefully, after tonight, those people will be out of your way as well.
Until then, there's only one thing to do.

Wind blows across the tops off the waves splashing around the ship and drenching the deck, there is not a single cloud in the sky to darken this day. I sigh, staring up at the sun as it burns brightly above the ship, just past the sails as I lean against the railing with Ajax laying on my lap, he's gotten a little bigger...which is good, I mean at least much better than he was doing when I found the little guy. I smile and scratch his face, as Ochamu stumbles over next to me and leans over the railing, making it creak as she groans weakly.

"Too hoooot" She whines loudly as she lays down, still clutching the tops of the railing, her hair catching on it and trailing down as Ajax wakes up and gives her a dirty stare

I turn and look at her, well I mean I guess it's a little stuffy out here, but that's to be expected, I mean springs coming around so it should be heating up a bit but...it's really not hot.

"You feeling okay Ochaamuuu?" I say teasingly as I shake her shoulder, and she turns to me, her face bright red, her eyes watering

"I..I tried one of those peppers" She says weakly as my smile dies a very slow death "it..it hurts"

And then I hear myself giggling somewhere close, a far more lively giggle than I could ever hope to produce myself.

I clench my fists, as my frown deepens to a scowl as I stand up slowly, pulling my hat down as my dark blue duster blows in the wind as

"ALL HANDS ON DEEEEEECK!" Baldrick cries loudly, nearly making me jump out of my hide "DOCKING AT FRUTA ISLAND IN FIVE MINUTES, ANYONE CAUGHT NAPPING WILL...ha dammit, FACE THE JUSTIFIED WRATH OF GINEGIN"

Freelancing has always been something of a mixed bag, but it offered a freedom that you would never find working for big companies. No overhead, pick the jobs you want to do, and no one to share any money with. However, contracts seem to have been drying up in the city as of late, and everyone seems to either be heading off to greener pastures or biting the bullet to join up with actual contractors. You just hadn't realized how big the demand for this was until now.

At long last the receptionist looks up, directly at you. Some of the others look your way as well, calculating your demeanor.

"Miss Mendoza is ready to see you now..."

“All of the Sorrows were made to destroy life” it says “We are what we were meant to be. For thousands of years new races and civilisations arose, and we destroyed them. That is our role, as it is yours – humans role – to fade away.”

“We'll see” Sofia says, gritting her teeth “first you have to defeat us.”

The cold around you intensifies as the Killing Frost booms “arise dragons of cold, wyrms of winter – destroy them!”

The Killing Frost is about to be disappointed in its initial call for help, looks like you get a free shot at it.

Dr.Marches took her back to his House while the meeting was ongoing to do a proper medical examination, but you can guess what happened. The meeting that was held passed like a flash for you. Most of the losses were in food, and heirlooms sold by the brigands who'd taken the town, though a few of the citizens had lost their lives trying to defend against the bandits. You were barely aware enough to hear that your father died with 7 bodies beneath his feet before falling to a hail of crossbow fire. No one mentioned you at all, though you could feel eyes on you the entire way through. You followed Halia home after the meeting, walking in complete silence. The next two days are a blurry mess, most of which you spent sleeping, eating, and regaining your energy. The third day, Dr. Marches visisted you.
