Is Sac Anime the new champion of California anime cons? The convention has been getting many amazing guests and upgraded their venue allowing it to become quiet the solid convention. With Fanime turning into line con with shitty staff and AX being too expensive for its own good, why are people not talking about Sac Anime more?

With Fanime and AX shitting themselves with how bad they're becoming.

Trying to be everything to everyone with an attendance of 1-2k is never going to work. Also they need to stop beating the same dead horse guests every year. I think it's also worth taking a look at replica sellers just to see what they're capable of producing. Some of them don't do certain prints, colorways, or jsk/op styles (for example I don't think Oo Jia does Sugary Hearts in white?). I think salopettes are a little safer too since I haven't ever seen a successful replica.

On a similar note, if there's a dress I want and it either looks a bit suspicious (from unclear pics or whatever) then I'll just google "[print name] replica" and see what comes up. That way, you can see if there is a replica of it, and you'll also get an idea of what the replicas look like.

I don't see how that's implicated anyplace in that post. And if you read further they explain why they don't like it, and it has to do with only having -one- picture of the dress like that. Which is a valid complaint since there should be at least one more showing the back and details.

I went to Kinyoobi con a couple of years ago and it was pretty dumb...it felt just like a generic meeting of a college anime club and it didn't help that karaoke was full of Destiny's Child songs. The "vendors room" was like 3 booths in the cafeteria that didn't sell much. I went to a panel and the moderator was like "let's get into small groups and discuss the pros and cons of different kinds of gaming consoles" umm...no thank you. Also, having Robert Axelrod as the sole guest each year got old 100 years ago.

That scared me off for a few years, but looking at it now, they seem to have done two things right: get out of school and get out of Hayward. Also they have a couple more guests. I guess they had to start somewhere.
