>>39482314>the left is trying to accelerate the rate at which the American culture evolves No, evolution is a gradual process of adaptation over time. The natural evolution of a culture produces traditions and institutions. The left has been tearing down our traditions and institutions because they want to engineer our society into something different, based on their ideological designs not on adaptations to real events.
>something more accepting of all peoples,That radical egalitarianism is part of the problem. "All peoples" is a category which includes murderers, thieves, and rapists. And you can't build a stable society out of such people. Obviously, there has to be a cut-off point somewhere. A point of moral transgression beyond which we refuse to accept people who behave a certain way. Sadly, the left doesn't want to have an honest debate about where that cut-off point should be, because any such debate comes back to the question of what's best for society, and that's a standard the left losses arguments on.
>Personally I think that elements of the conservative culture are actually detrimental to society as a wholeThen the burden of proof is on you and the left. Sexism certainly annoyed feminists, but was it really detrimental to society as a whole to have stay at home mothers, stable marriages, healthy families, a growing population, and happy women. Racism was hard on the blacks, but was it worth gutting Americas cities and destroying stable white communities to fight it? Was defending white society from the social decay which is rampant in black communities really "detrimental to society as a whole"? Or would preserving the security of 90% of the population at the expense of the dignity of 10% of the population be in society's best interests?
