I've got just the thing for that. In Western Malaysian folklore there is a being known as "Hantu si Buru," which means "Demon Huntsman" or "Spirit that Hunts," etc, etc. Hantu si Buru appears during the full moon, is ten feet tall with a full beard and mustache, and is accompanied by his hunting dogs Sokong and Ko'ing. Hantu si Buru traditionally hunts boar and dear, stabbing them with his six-cubit spear, but if angered by human beings he will hunt them too. It is considered extremely unlucky to see him, for if you do you will come down with a wasting sickness. However, the locals have rituals to contact him. If you restore a half snapped tree back to its upright position (any tree but the gutta tree, that is) during the full moon, Hantu si Buru will come to see you. If you make offerings, and he agrees to your request, he will cure people in your family afflicted by the aforementioned sickness, and will empower charms or talismans that you can use to protect yourself from further harm. If you hear the alarm cry of the birik-birik bird during the night of a full moon, it means he is near.
There is a whole host of other jungle spirits in Malay folklore, collectively called the Hantu Hantuan. Many of them are hostile to humanity, and are connected to certain natural features, such as specific types of trees, or specific locations like crossroads and graves. Hantu si Buru could easily make pacts with them, and leverage them as allies against those who displease him.
