Least liked players / Party dynamics

No.91894240 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Thread title.
This might be a little harsh, but (as a female player) I always feel that the self-described 'sensitive, emphatic' type of player / PC just isn't very interesting to me. Those kind of characters tend to be passive, and the way they orbit and hope something works out - Instead of just bluntly stating what they want - feels unbearably tedious.

Those kind of PCs are usually warning signs, because they show that the player is self-inserting pretty hard. That means he's going to take rejection badly. I've personally always preferred the more confident guy who makes a pass, then takes it good-naturedly if I say no.
Then again, I generally make sure my character hooks up with an NPC as soon as possible. A lot of PCs I've played with are awful and sweaty, and I don't want to give anyone the 'trophy' of an in-game romance. Hence, it's NPCs.
With NPCs and constructs, I can highlight that my PC is a sexual entity without being eligible to any of my party members. I mean, I like sex, but I don't want to sleep with the universally lame PCs. And yes, I universally play spellcasters.

Think of it as a movie, where the hero has an 'ex-wife' or a sexy girlfriend to show that he's having sex. This is the female equivalent, it takes the guy out of the equation. It helps that a lot of players are intimidated by this, so they don't get ideas.

Would the Beastmen race from Warhammer Fantasy and Age of Sigmar be more popular if they were instead a Beastwomen race where the purpose of their raids is forcing human and elven males to breed with them?

> According to Elmore, Margaret Weis's reaction to Caldwell's first drawing was very negative; Weis said Goldmoon looked like "a whore". Elmore subsequently attempted to allay Weis's concerns, and drew the character for a book cover to appear less "sexy", adding leather pants. He and Parkinson collaborated on Goldmoon illustrations for a long time afterwards. Weis reportedly appreciated Parkinson's attempt to incorporate Weis's vision of Goldmoon as "Native American with a Celtic touch". Both Weis and Tracy Hickman continued to consult about the artwork, but Weis was always the one more invested in a particular vision.

What the hell was Margaret Weis problem? Also lol at being invested in a "vision" for the dragonlance books, the most low-rent generic fantasy literature ever.

Why the fuck was this TSR's best-selling D&D series in the 80s?
