>>33936884SilCore plays pretty fast and easy, it's got a wonderful balance of crunchy simulationism and fast-play narrativism, it's easily become one of my favorite systems.
But be warned it's also notoriously deadly.
The way damage and health works means that combat will consist of gaming for every little bonus to attack or defense possible (a GOOD thing, as it promotes actually using tactics instead of run and gun mindless kick in the door style play), and more often than not attacks will either flat out miss or instakill with little in-between. There's ways to skew things so they're less deadly for the PCs, like Emergency Dice, Genre Points, Leadership/Tactics points, certain equipment upgrades and mech perks, so make sure you're aware of them before running a long-term game and make your players aware of them too or else your players will find themselves turned to a bloody paste thanks to one failed defense roll.
Mekton Zeta+'s construction rules also work best if you use it as a toolbox to make your own shopping lists of mech parts and weapons, DO NOT just give the players a point pool and the rulebook unless you give them STRICT guidelines and watch them like a HAWK. The character creation and personal scale combat leave a lot to be desired, though, but the MZ+ rules are written so they can be ported to a number of systems VERY easily. Cyberpunk 2020, Fuzion, and HERO system are some of the best alternatives for characters and combat for MZ+ since they all share the same roots.
