>>39462239Because DnD is shit and 5E is trying to be DnD as hard as it can, and does so in such a way that it embraces the dumb without any of the stuff that made any of the other editions interesting despite the stupid.
It's 2e without the soul but all of the vaugeries, 3.5 without the nuance and freedom but with all of the clutter, and 4E without the chutzpah and life but with all of the detached board-gameisms.
Don't multiclass, don't take feats, don't think of creative uses for your spells, don't try and figure out how to build your character creatively or effectively - just play the characters WE want you to play in the settings we like with the rules we are too afraid to truly change. Because this is what's safe. This is what will get us money. Because we don't have the spine to make something new or better. But look, you can play a Bender now - as long as you do it with this class and these rules in this way. Don't hate us. Please.
I don't hate 5E but I will play any edition of DnD over it and I am desperately searching for a fantasy adventure game to replace it until I and my friends can finish our own. It's just an aggressively mediocre game on almost every level - and mediocrity is a terrible fate.
