Last time, on Feral Necromancer Quest: Well, last time you weren't Vlad Tepish. You were Melandie, you tried dealing with some shit, and mostly couldn't deal with it. You got mad a lot and got quite a bit closer to Lathrien. That is irrelevant, however, as we now return to Vlad Tepish. Last time you were Vlad Tepish, you gave bodies to a whole bunch of people you killed earlier. You made friends, or at least allies with a small human camp near your desecrated land. You fell unconscious, and there you were trapped by a great spirit of the forest. He claimed godhood, but your research on whether or not he was indeed a god was inconclusive. Your punch to his smug face was conclusive, however, and you woke up. Three days had passed while you were unconscious. You went straight to researching the spirit. You got some good information on him, including ancient human and elven attitudes towards him. That is where the thirteenth episode of Feral Necromancer Quest ended.

“URA!” Houki yells as she brings down her shinai down on your face mask.

With that strike you lose another match. Houki is way too good at kendo. Here you are John Smith, only know male IS pilot, in a practice kendo match with Houki Shinonono. You didn't wake up any later than usual, even if you slept peacefully with Laura and Charlotte last night. Practice usually goes on like this. You practice with stances and striking with Houki before you both have practice matches together.

“Still haven't been able to beat you yet.” you tell Houki after you take off your face mask.

“What are you talking about? You have made a lot of progress since we started.” Houki replies after doing the same.

“Guess you're right. Nothing beats practical experience.” you respond as you rub your shoulder with your free hand.

“That is right. Perseverance is a virtue in kendo.” Houki replies with a bright smile.

“Been a while since I have lost this much.” you muse as you switch hands to rub your other shoulder.

“Oh?” Houki asks, curious about your response.

“Grandpa started teaching me self-defense when a was a little kid. He's a hard teacher but I learned everything he could teach me. Even now, I can only win some of the time.” you answer.

“Didn't your mother think it was too early for you to learn self-defense?” Houki asks with an interested tone.

“At first she did. Then she brought out her camera to take lots of pictures.” you answer. “Maybe that is one of the reasons I don't like cameras.” you add absent mindly.
