You try and give Yuko a call, unfortunately you get a message saying that her phone is either out of signal or turned off. "Crap! Yuko... please don't get into danger..." You whisper to yourself.

"Kodaka? What's wrong?" Your mother asks you as you start to become pale.

"Ah, it's my friend. I think she is getting into trouble..." Yuko wouldn't sell her body just for her idol career would she? Now that you thought of it you didn't really know Yuko too well. All you know was that she was an orphan who saved her old orphanage.

"Really? Why don't you go save your friend?"

"Well I could..." Since Lucy's hotel is at the red light district anyways, you might be able to get there in time to save Yuko while being able to take your mother to see Lucy. "Are you okay with going out? I will be by your side the whole time, I promise!"

"E-Eh... outside... that's a bit too much for me right now..." You could see your mother try and keep herself calm even though her arms are starting to shake in fear. "H-How about I'll wait here? It's safe here." She lets out a small giggle.

Just then, you get a call. This time it was from Miki. "Ah... Kodaka? Sorry if I'm bothering you." She immediately apologizes to you. "I know you are probably busy but is there any chance you can come back to the hospital?" Miki sounded distressed.

"Miki? What's wrong?"

Before she can even answer you hear a strict voice yell at her in the background. "Miki... stop wasting time, I'm taking you back with me. Isn't this what you wanted? I'm letting you back into the family?" Sounds of commotion starts up as Miki says no to the man.

Before the line goes dead you hear Miki yell out. "No dad! I don't want to go back with you! I have someone important to me no-"

"Miki? Miki are you still there?" You ask her as the line goes silent then eventually turns into a beeping tone.

"Kodaka? Are you okay?" Your mother asks you again.

Hi, /tg/. I'm new to being a DM for the most part. I started with 4e a year ago and started DMing for my group of friends. We switched to 5e recently and ran a short adventure.
They all min-max their characters and treat it as a video game which is fine by me for the most part, they just want to get cool items and keep killing things. So I usually focus on combat and they like having a grid to move their characters. Do you have any suggestions on pretty nice 1 inch grid ideas?

In short /tg/; Modern war based wargames (for this count everything past WW2 and include fictional wars if you wish), would you play them, and if not, why not?

The question came to me since it seems the prevailing attitude amongst wargamers, but apparently specifically amongst those who have never been in a warzone as a combatant or otherwise, as disrepectful. this seems odd to me, given the prevalence of games, tv programs and films set in current/very recent wars or close look-a-likes. If it's acceptable for entertainment there (that is if you think it is), why is it not in wargames?

I come to you today with a new version, version 1.13, and there are actually a couple significant changes here and there. The short changelog:
>Replaced the "Example Archetypes" and Sample Characters sections of the chargen chapter with an overall "Sample Characters" section, containing pictures of several premade characters (those who were here in the last thread or two will recognize them)
>Added a section under "Health and Energy" in the mechanics chapter that elaborates on how you can choose to set energy spending before or after a roll in your campaign
>Elaborated on the Grit stat in the chargen chapter

While quite boring, perhaps it is best some problems are solved peacefully. In Squat Crusade: The Musical, the players are some of the last Squats in the galaxy, having narrowly escaped the destruction of the Homeworlds. Their objective is to rebuild their race (because 6e says it's okay), but they must deal with a hostile galaxy, enemies who would see them burn, and their own ineptitude.
