You are in an army, this is your gear.

*One conical helmet with nasal and cheek guards
*One short sword with scabbard
*One dagger
*One spear with vertical blade
*One wooden tower shield with steel brim
*One suit of armor: an apron composed of two layers of cloth with steel plates riveted between them
*Two arm guards for protecting your arms and sides in battle

Otherwise you are clothed in peasant clothes. There are ten thousand of you guys armed with the same gear. These are backed up by 5,000 guys who are equipped in a similar manner, but substitute a crossbow and twelve bolts for the spear and shield.You have been given six months of training with these weapons either way. You are facing several hundred down knights clad in mail with their hosts of peasant levies who are armed with spears, axes and shields and helmets, but few have any armor.

Recasts thread or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying About GW and Love the Chinaman Friend.

I recieved yet another shipment Zhanchui today (O'Shovah and a Broadside to make a Missileside), and if anyone is at all interested I'm happy to post pictures/answer any questions regarding the ordering process/mini's themselves.

I've ordered mini's from both Coolcast and Zhanchui (like a few other anon's here) and of course there are many pro's and con's to buying from Chinaman/GW and FW. Of course if you'd like to support your hobby and want (generally) impeccable service I would indeed purchase from your LGS/GW directly, but if you are willing to run the risks of buying from Chinaman, be it overall costs or whatever, many people I know buy the recasts.

Before any moral defenders jump and down and tell me off for 'destroying' the hobby, understand that,
1 - I'm an Australian, the cost of induvidual mini's here are fuckin' stupid to say the least, and
2 - I buy all the core components (~1500 points or so) of all my armies from my local GW store, and a few other mini's from Chinaman so I can mix it up a little without spending 1000 Aussie Dollary Doo's plus per army.

This picture is pretty much how you receive the mini, in little ziplock bags.

What game has a magic system that seems the most "magical". As in, something that feels powerful and mysterious and only somewhat controlled. Not something that is basically the equivalent of having a gun that shoots fireballs using ammo that takes a day to regenerate.

Bonus if using it requires doing things like study or figure out elements of magic in character.

What's the deal with these helmets?

So I'm going to give my Traveller group an ancient spaceship, held together by happy thoughts and full of quirks. What kinds of small touches can I describe to my players to really bring the lovable scrapheap to life?

Previously:
A young Cerulean accepted the invitation from the Rockets, coming on board as a junior member.
The Squad leader, Janine refused and politely bowed out, abstaining from her place at dinner.
Goldenrod, Cerulean, and Bruise feasted upon the well deserved dinner, deciding upon their favorite flavor, soon found themselves before the manic Kitty as she took up answering questions and showing them to their dorms.

Amidst a little moment between her two new friends, Cerulean noticed a flash of light break through the sky, and upon investigating it through the balcony, they witnessed a colossal bird wreathed in lightning beat thunder and rain upon the dome as it passed by.
Placed under high alert, the children were placed in a basement while older rangers handled the situation.

With no direct attack on hand, Cerulean found by next morning that the power had indeed gone out after she awoke from a mysterious dream in which she glimpsed her mother.

Dressing for mourning, she last headed to the Lavender Quarter with Bruise to seek closure from the mediums.
She now enters the strange and ghastly place that is the Lavender Spire.
