tl;dr - Your last character finds themselves on Gor and has to "save" all the ladies on that planet, which really just means getting rid of slavery since, aside from all the slavin', Gor is a downright progressive place and citizen-women are the norm and have all the same rights as the menfolk. Most of Gor's reputation seems to stem from the ever-escalating sex-fest that is the book's author-self-insert wish-fulfillment fantasy, as well as the whole "slaves totally accept getting enslaved and they or anyone else will not, ever, try to liberate them" deal. Regardless, the Gor-Fag that's been going around completely forgot to mention all the issues transplanted characters would have dealing with castes, city-state citizenship (kind of a HUGE FUCKING DEAL in the setting), etc. and has deprived /tg/ of our ability to rationally break down such a scenario and make something beautiful.

Let's go, /tg/, and rip Gor the fuck up.

I walk in, narrate a few things about how the player wrote some bad fapfiction that no one wants shoved in their face, and then leave secure in the knowledge that, as much as Gor detests me, he will still call me on Thursday to make sure the game is still happening on Saturday.

What about every other harsh culture/setting with castes and slavery and gender discrimination? Why Is Gor deserving of "my character used his/her abilities to to cleanse the wicked", vs other settings with shitty premises, shitty fans and shitty pseudo philosophy?

Tl:dr; redux this whole thread with a better setting. Your character finds themselves in a world unfamiliar to them. They know that a whole society of magic users exists within it, living secretely. They manipulate the non-magic user's minds, they manipulate their politics, they erase their very memories! The magicians have blood castes themselves, with monolithic authority held over all. They treat those lower than themselves with complete impunity. So, how does your Character take down the harry potter universe?

Hey /tg/, I was looking at getting into warhammer fantasy playing beastmen. But I know they are balls right now. BUT someone at my LGS said that there is a new edition soon and its rumored to come with a beastmen vs woodelves starter box. Anyone else heard this? Also WHFB general I suppose.

I agree, I prefer the look of shields as well. Perhaps there is a future for them. Ultimately WFB is far more lenient with WYSIWYG and you can happily sneak a few shields into the unit to look the part.

As it is, the army is fairly mono-build with all armies following a similar template.
Your core will involve a horde of 2HW Gor, of about 40 models. This will normally hold a BSB with the Beast Banner and 2+ Save. The rest of your Core requirements are taken by 2-3 units of Raiders, and then filled in with Ungor or Chariots as you see fit.
Special starts with a unit of 30-40 Bestigor and 3 units of Razorgor, either as solos or as pairs.
Then, we take a Great Shaman and 2+ Shaman with the Herdstone, 2 Shadow and 1 Beasts.
Polish the list off with Doombull, Harpies and Razor Chariots as you see fit.

Game plan is to rush your melee blobs hard and fast. Razorgor work as missiles to suicide-charge enemy Wizards or BSBs on the front line. Ungor get in the way to deflect units and then it's just a case of pumping your hordes with Shadow and Beasts in vast quantities.

It's not the most unique style, but it can be fun.

i really don't understand the role of Gor in the army though

bestigors are killier and ungors are cheaper

gor inhabit a strange middle ground between the two where they aren't as good in either hammer or anvil roles as the other two

the only really good thing gor have is the T4 that can be buffed to T5 which can make them a chore for S3 enemies to deal with

so perhaps a stubborn block of them has its merits

the only reason i'd see taking a horde of them with 2 HW is if you can't fit a second horde of bestigor in the army

They exist because you need to supply 25% Core and there is only so many units of chaff you can cram in before the excess becomes redundant. If Bestigor were available as Core, you would rarely see them

That said, they can become genuinely scary when supported with enough magic. Throw down a combination of Miasma, Wither and Wildform and you're pumping out 2 attacks each that hit first, hit on 3's with a reroll and wound on 2's.
The true strength of a Beastman army is the ability to pump out 3-4 extra power dice a turn to slam down as many Hexes and Augments you can. It is perfectly normal to have an advantage of 6+ dice against your opponent, so while you are relying on combining multiple spells together, it's also fairly obtainable.

a stubborn block 5 wide buffed with just wildform is giving you S4T4 for 5pts/model

that's pretty competitive and only requires one spell which you can guarantee you get given it's a signature spell and you can spam for the same reason and it only requires a 75pt investment in a bray shaman

honeslty, it's so frustrating reading that 7th ed book because it would just require a few points values drops and a couple of very minor adjustments (like giving gor some kind of armour save) to make it very viable

and i get the sinking feeling the primal fury, which is actually a great fucking rule, will either get nerfed of dropped in the next book

re-rolls to hit all game is great, all you have to worry about is getting enough high strength attacks to wreck faces and we have that with the bestigor who are actually decent value for their points

they cost the same as an 8th ed black orc and are just 1 point lower in Ld and without the ability to swap weapons between combats, and instead they get rerolls to hit.

so they're possibly even better value than blorks

what hurts beastmen is the lack of a truly good core unit to build your list around

Gor are just too damn expensive for what they do and have no real role on the battlefield. they're S3 just like ungors, the +1WS over ungor doesn't really matter because even ungor get the reroll to hit. the gor are T4 which is nice, but without access to a decent armour save, and with just 1 attack, they really just aren't that effective in combat

the beastmen ambush rules are far too unpredictable to make use of as they're currently written as well which is a shame, because it it just worked like outflank in 40k, it would be pretty useful

If I were to remake the army, I'd simply give the army the proper Ambush rules from the rulebook. Every time the army is written it includes an option to Ambush, and every time it is hamstrung and limited to the point of being a mediocre gimmick that is rarely a good idea. Just give us the proper Ambush rule to the units that want it.

Going larger...
Gor- 6pts base, Shields +1, AHW +2. Otherwise I really like them, provided Ambush is fixed.
Ungor- I like as is, in both formats. Better Ambush though.
Warhounds- Count towards Core
Centigor- Either come as Core, or introduce a Hero-level that moves them. Also need a price cut.
Bestigor- In a dream world I'd like the Beastlord general to convert a single unit into Core, but they work really well as is.
Minotaurs- Fucking hell. Need either a 4th wound, T5 or some kind of FNP/Regen when under the effects of Bloodgreed. Even then they'd still be expensive. I'd also like to see them move to Core with a Bull general.

Ghorgon- His 'eat' attack becomes a freebie like the Arachnorok sting rather than a trade-off. Also, I'd like to see him develop Regen as he gains Blood Greed tokens. Maybe S7 base?
Cygor- MASSIVE price cut. Also, I'd like to see him gain a Ward save linked to the Winds of Magic.
Jabber- Generals within his aura cannot create an Inspiring Presence. Units testing for madness cannot use the BSB. Some kind of scaly skin would be nice, and even then he could do with a price cut.

Herdstone- Moved from an item, into a Rare unit. Wizards within 6" channel on a 4+, gives Terror to nearby models and maybe fucks up the Winds of Magic. Also improves Fury of nearby units.

Lore of the Wild- rebuilt into a mix of Shadow and Beast. Signature spell could be a Summon that creates small units of Hounds, Harpies or lone Razors from Ambush. Spells to dominate enemy beasts, improve Fury and generally be a bad druid.

They can have good characters, but they must be secondary to the plot at best.

See several supporting characters in Naruto, namely Kakashi, Shikamaru, Rock Lee, Guy, Hinata, Jiraiya, and Tsunade.

That Kiba gun with the double gravity sword already pretty much has the perfect weapon. You can't defend against him, just dodge. If he hits you even once, you're fucked. That's pretty much why they killed him off, his weapon's offensive power was higher than the entire gotei 13 combined. Too bad he himself was such a weak faggot.

Hm, problem is now I got the pacing all messed up. This was supposed to be the climax of the story but...Ah, who gives a shut. Probably in two days time, I'll wrap up the Lone Voter's story. Or at least have the recharged batteries to take a swing at it. SFM's pitfights, LWYS, more gratuitous QM cameos, and the investigating rigamarole can be for another time.
