So today I made a character for an upcoming Eclipse Phase game. I'm the party face, with 30 savvy, a Sylph biomorph, and a skillset that generally makes me Lando Calrissian, smooth gambler rogue and all. I actually got a 90 in Interest: Gambling by taking Expert, even.

This game looks retardedly rules-heavy and complicated, and I noticed some pretty serious balance issues in the biomorph list (like how Remade is almost strictly better than everything else, even considering its cost). I only stayed away from Remade because it didn't fit my character concept, but we collectively convinced our GM to ban Remade and Fury as biomorph options because they're WAY too good for their cost.

Am I in for a bumpy ride here? Because it looks like Eclipse Phase doesn't know when to stop attaching rules to shit and doesn't really know what's balanced and what isn't.

Noting the one nugget of gold out of the shitfest that >>26006535 devolved into, I would like to talk about this link.

>Approaches to having a more "mythic" style of magic in RPGs, as opposed to scientific. It goes over some common traits of most fantasy RPG magic systems compared to myth, folklore, and fantasy fiction.

This seems really cool to me. How do we get away from the modern concept of flashy magic like throwing elements around, and have characters with magic more like you see in Conan? Is there a system that would be good for this?

SONG OF IRON AND HATE QUEST 9

!P8ag6i4kzs No.25998631 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some call you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Other have taken to calling you “The Grey Giant”, in reference to your great size, less-than-warm demeanor, and your recent marriage to House Tollett of Grey Glen.

You are a Lord by right of Murder, having slain the Targaryen children in the Sack of King’s Landing. After years of solitary brooding, you have decided to rejoin life, You have wedded the lady Alyssa Tollet, meaning that in time the lands of her father, lord Tollet of Gray Glen, will also be yours. Further, your wife has just announced that she is with child.

Which means that you have a legacy to create. You will not leave your child without care or resources, and so you have dived into the management of your lands and holdings, to procure a bright future for yourself and your children. But storm clouds darken the horizon. Tywin Lannister has asked that you seek to supplant Jon Arryn, your liege lord, as Hand of The King. Further, Oberyn Martell has crossed you, and this you will not let go unpunished.

For now, though, your mind is on your armies, lands, and peoples.

You’ve just hired a passel of men to begin organizing and arranging your Land’s funds. Walter Janks you have appointed to be your Foreman at the Gold Mine, while Alphonse Reitt begins to establish a bank in your lands. Ilwin Meadows shall be your accountingman, while Doma Toceri is to be your representative in distant lands. But Doma has a secret you wish to hear. One about your new adversary, Oberyn Martell.

Hussar Vs. Ming Dynasty Light Cavalry

No.16974572 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Alright, /tg/. We do knights vs. Samurai all the time. That shit's got real, real old.

But you know what we haven't done? Light cavalry battles.

Like all Americans, I love the idea of Asians and Europeans fighting to the death. So that's the subject of this thread.

A 16th century Hungarian Hussar versus a 16th century Ming Dynasty cavalryman.

Both are light cavalry from the early gunpowder era. They can be assumed to have common equipment from their time.

Who wins, /tg/? Is it the west, or is it the east?

STAR WARS EDGE OF THE EMPIRE!
It's this new Star Wars RPG that just came out made by Fantasy Flight Games. It uses a bunch of weird-ass dice. Let's talk about it.

I think I like it better than Saga so far, but I am confused that Gand is a core race. Who gives a shit about the Gand? I certainly don't.

Also, I can't figure out how many starting Credits a character is supposed to get for gear at chargen. The only reference I can find is that tiny chart at the bottom of p.31 (in the Beta version, too poorfag and flabby for ALPHA), which seems to say it's 500 Cr. That seems like a very small amount!
