If you ask "Where is (paranoia wizard)?", the subject of the sentence is "(paranoia wizard)". If you ask "Who is trying to kill me?", the subject of the sentence is "who", and "me" is a modifier on "trying to kill".

>So why is Exalted a good setting? Oh because it's such non-standard fantasy! There are no elves, no dwarves and none of that Tolkien shit! It's such a creative and vibrant setting full of unique cultures and people!>What do you think of REIGN's setting? It's too weird for me.
Anonymous
>>24872866 But... I like Exalted for the really weird locales, and find the "non-standard fantasy" locales boring.

>>24873122 >It's controversial for one major reason though: Only women ride horses canonically in the setting. Because horses came from only one area, and in the culture that started and created horseback riding it became a commonly accepted belief that if a man rode on horseback he would become impotent. Because the cultures of REIGN are generally a bit more primitive than other ones (hell, an advanced form of WRITING hasn't even been discovered) it's often stated that this is merely a superstition, but it's a commonly accepted one that it'd be hard to disprove without major setting alteration through in-character action. Makes sense. Even if it's probably not true, most men wouldn't be willing to do something that might make their dicks stop working.

>>24879517 >But... I like Exalted for the really weird locales, and find the "non-standard fantasy" locales boring. You're the guy that preached love for Autochtonia (aka toroid with two hemispheres over and below it and two cylinders struck through somewhere to nonplayers) and Malfeas (a hella lot of constantly rearranging and crashing into each other layers, surrounded by endless desert which is surrounded by Malfeas again, with green sun shining everywhere, even through layers above you and acid sea flowing SOMEWHERE in there, etc etc) a couple threads back?
So, are two-guys-continent with unmoving sun weird enough for you? Or this thing there

Yeah, that's me.
Also yeah, both of those things sound neat and I'd probably check it out. The two-guys-continent and unmoving sun come off as a little "weird for the sake of weird", but if the execution is also interesting then yeah I'd play it and probably enjoy that being a thing.

>>24872866 Exalted succeeds because (like all the really popular RPG settings) it draws its ideas from a source genre. Creation is an archetypal massup of every element they could grab from mythology, pulp fantasy and JRPG elements. It has it's own identity and history, but on the other hand it's instantly understandable to anyone who enjoys the source material. You can see the same phenomenon in World of Darkness (archetypal urban fantasy), Forgotten Realms (archetypal Post-Tolkien Fantasy), and 40K (archetypal scifi/horror).
Reign on the other hand is a good example of how not to design an RPG setting; setting out to design an RPG setting. While lasting settings exist to give the game a space to exist in, settings like REIGN exist for their own sake. They don't spark the imagination because all they ultimately are is a stream of surreal imagery which lacks the 'hook' of genre emulation.
>>24873354 Hits the nail on the head. Creation is a setting that exists for its game. REIGN is a setting which exists to make a point.

What's everyone favorite party to use in BG? I'm currently on my first playthrough, and with my playstyle, I tend to find that I'm good with: PC: Kensai Jaheria Khalid Imoen:Theif/Mage Xan Yeslick Though, Yeslick is currently out because Safana came, and I need a thief while Imoen trains, and now Quayle is on the seen, and Mage/Cleric is awesome, but I'm not sure who to take out...

>>22716815 Enhanced Edition doesn't really like, work. It's buggy as fuck and crashes a lot. Has some other flaws that I won't elaborate on here, gamebanshee review has a pretty good list of them. It also doesn't add much anything that you don't get with modding the original game.
Until they release a lot of patches for Enhanced Edition I'd say go with original all day every day.

Good lord, you're to be my escort? I was expecting you to be so....small. Well I shall be frank. I need to get home in time for the grand royal feast and father doesn't believe it safe for a princess to be traveling on her own. So tragically, you've been chosen to accompany me. Get me there on time and I promise you my weight in gold and whatever leftovers I can't be bothered finishing. Fail and I'll have your bones ripped out of your body and repair purposed into fine cutlery. No pressure. Now any questions before we leave?

Glorious /tg/, please inform me of how difficult it is to begin a Flames of War force. I am interested in how long it will take to both learn and build the force to a point where it is interesting to play with and against. As russia. Are the commanders caps mandatory?

Look up a Ranger Program in you local area and get a game set up. Once you learn the rules building a Soviet force won't be hard do make unless you end up with a shitload of infantry. I recommend that you pick up Red Bear for LW or Eastern Front for a MW force

Last one is autosaging and I've got shit I want to talk about. Namely, why do cyberlimbs kind of suck for the amount of essence you put into them? Yeah, I get that losing an arm is gonna cost you some essence, but lets view this from a purely mechanical standpoint, that 2 essence I invest in a pair of cyberarms could have gone into wired reflexes for a much larger return in capability. I propose cutting the essence costs for all forms of cyberlimb in half, at least. Since I lack the Shadowrun General picture, have a man wielding an xbox instead.
