I'd buy Gaslands, a set of lasercut templates for it, and one of those cheap sacks of blank dice from China. Then snag a box of plastics from Oathmark or WGA and make a simple skirmish force to play something free. Usually those are generic enough to expand up into stuff like Frostgrave, Erewhon, and Oathmark but still give you enough variety to be able to build a small warband to dick around with before that. If you have some spare cash, look for cheap, mostly scale-independent terrain deals like bark rocks, christmas trees or aquarium plants.

Eh, Frostgrave is on the outer edge of that budget unless you've got a buddy to GM for you or willing to split the costs. Just the minis is ~$60 or so for a reasonable cross-section of wandering monsters. Easy if you've got a pre-existing D&D collection, not so much for someone just starting. Same goes for terrain, if you've got a club or an LGS you're fine but it's a pretty big construction ask for a well-choked 3x3 table compared to Gaslands or the like.

yeah, fair. If you've got a GM or a buddy to go in on it with, Frostgrave gets a LOT more affordable. Especially since most of the boxes split really nicely between 2-3 people, so if one guy gets the Warrior box another one can get Cultists or whatever and then trade a couple sprues.

You know, it's kinda funny that Mass Effect has become the go to setting for jumpers to shit on with their clarktech. I know Mass Effect isn't the most powerful or technologically advanced setting in Sci-Fi, but it's a hell of a lot better than places like Battletech, AVP, or FTL.

I browse a couple of the Zuckbook 3D printing groups, and every time I see an interesting sculpt, I add that Patreon to my 'follow' (not subscribe) list. Most of them are smart enough to post their previews publicly, not walled off, and usually have a link to their back catalog.

Or go to myminifactory.com and just start clicking and browsing, sooner or later most of the biggest names will pop up in the 'recommendations' side bar.

This would be my advice for exploring what's available.

Yea, some of the roughness is definitely the primer because it's super cold and humid outside so I don't think the primer adhered evenly or as it should.

I'll try some more models. What's a good lubricant for the rails? I have some machine lubricant (like sewing machine), that seems like it'd be effective.

The skeleton had a break on the arrow, but that was my bad cuz I dropped it before it was cured.

So I'd gone and put the primer in warm water first and tried. It did smooth it out a tad, so I'm thinking in non-freezing weather (I have nowhere inside to do it) it might come out smoother on that front. This figure was my third one (still no anti-aliasing) done at 40 micron.

Doing Test Kobold now after turning on Anti-aliasing and fidgeting with the cure times a bit. See how it turns out.

But in all seriousness though. It depends on what version of Azathoth we're talking about here. Is this the one Lovecraft wrote about or is this one from an Extended Canon because there's a lot of versions of those and they vary from star level to something much MUCH higher. Thomas Ligotti's Azathoth is a lot more abstract and difficult to measure then Derleth's Azathoth who actually gets beat. But that's one of the reason many of us downplay Derleth's work. I mean we could composite Azzy but it would be a mess. Maybe as intended.

Where do gods come from.

I'm starting a galaxy sized campaign with the assumption that gods rise and fall on billions of worlds over billions of years.

While no god is anything new, it still leaves the question of where they come from.

What do you suggest?

I was thinking more gods just happen. They all know they're equivalent entities.
But they don't know why they came to exist or why gods just seem to pop up out of nowhere.
So they tell mortals they're the creators of the universe to pad their insecurities.

What is the tech level? I'm reading a pretty short SF novel by Roger Zelazny, Lord of Light, where the gods measure their godhood by the extent to which they embody a specific Attribute. For example, Yama is the Lord of Death and he got his start as a weapons enthusiast....and its also equated with possessing a high degree of skill in science and philosophy. You could go for something in that vein.
