Yup.
But there are other powers in the same tree that lessen that effect as well.
The Ordo Dracul are all about getting rid of the vampiric drawbacks (or at least turning them into strengths), and they are pretty damn good at it.

If one has mastered the powers of the Mystery of the Ascendant, one can walk around in daylight, provided one has a big hat, a coat, gloves, and all that, and don't look up.

The Ordo doesn't have fancy magic or centuries worth of political deals... They can however just walk up to your haven in broad daylight and rip you to shreds while you sleep.

Did you establish that the Sheriff is a battle monster? If yes, remind the players of that fact. Tell them out of character: "Do you remember how he benched pressed a truck? Do you remember how he tore apart a Belialist with his bare hands? You just killed his touch stone, and Vampires are stronger when in frenzy."

Are there other Hounds there? The might quake in fear and instead of fighting the players try to blatantly herd them in the Sheriff's direction. "Problem? Ha, ha! There is no problem! I'm gonna explain to the Sheriff that there is no problem to be had. You stay here, okay? Don't leave!"

If you haven't established his strength, tone the stats down. You can do it in addition to the first step, to be safe.

Does the Sheriff already know his wife is dead? This gives you wiggle room. You have time to:
Embrace the wife.
Apprehend the killer and give him to the Sheriff. The player needs to agree to have his character retired, so give him a full XP refund.
Prepare an ambush.
Run! Fukken run!

So, what do you fa/tg/uys think of Harmonquest?

Even though its a tv show, it seems fitting to discuss it here considering what it's about.

I watched the first episode recently and I thought it was ok, it was funny but nothing mind-blowing.

I hope they up the comedy somewhat and get more in the rhythm of the show as the episodes progress and that the slow pace is just a byproduct of it being the first episode.

That rather depends on who you are fighting. Against SM, Tau or Eldar, that sounds fine.

But Orks and Chaos are going to have a bad time and even pie plate heavy Guard will struggle because they wont be able to negate your FNP.

You're the best judge of how it will go down in your local.

Guys, i just ran a Jurassic Park / Jurassic World themed campaign with the rules of "DREAD". A survival oriented ruleset that some anon here suggested to me. It's based on a Jenga tower rather than dice.

It was the best Roleplay experience that i've ever had. If you like Jurassic Park and survival oriented campaigns, give this a try.

How well would the Yozi from exalted work as Mythos- style eldritch abominations in a modern setting? I want to run something COC-esque, but all of my players are lovecraftophiles who metagame like hell, so I figure the Yozi are some Interesting outer god/old one stand ins that could throw them off.

Alternatively, get The Final Revelation for Trail of Cthulhu. Skip or modify the first of the 4 scenarios within because it will be predictable for gamers with knowledge of the mythos. Run the other 3 and the metaplot and scare the living crap out of them.

Not well given that the Yozi literally cannot leave Hell, their demons and Infernal exalts are (while very tough) perfectly killable for the most part, and the Reclamation is heavily implied to the a fool's errand that will get the Yozi approximately zero steps closer to getting out. Getting taken to Hell is a bigger threat than any of the Yozi getting out to get humans.

10 times outnumbered is nothing anon, especially when you're on the defensive. The Finns used their anti tank rifles to blow up some tanks, shot a shitload of conscripts in the head from their trenches, while the Russians were advancing in the open, after not too long all the tanks are burning and the conscripts are demoralized and running away.

If numbers alone were the deciding factor, the soviets would have been able to capture Finland. But thats not what happened.

Tanks alone dont decide a battle, especially when they're shitty BT-7s

Watch the Talvisota film if you haven't already. Obviously films aren't 100% realistic, but it gives you a good idea of how easy it is to annihilate an enemy advancing in the open when you're dug in and have excellent morale.

Front armor of the BT-7s was like 15mm, easily penetrated by a 20mm Lahti AT rifle
