>>27460073True. I want RPM because I really want to see that system expanded, but myself...
>>27431660I'm this Anon, and what I'm trying to get is a system where improvisation is difficult and most spells are learned as Rotes, using the Technique rules. Lots of penalties to spellcasting using the normal syntactic improv rules without prepared spaces, taking extra time, etc. You can learn specific workings with some of the traits locked and some variable as a technique that greatly reduces the penalty just for putting the first two points in.
Additionally, I was going to adapt the GURPS houserules for books...
http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/blueroom/bookrules.htm...to allow for spellbooks of varying size and quality. They'd also let you cast at improved defaults, so even a completely novice mage with a spellbook on hand could cast a number of spells faster than improv.
The biggest obstacles would be having to actually make a bunch of rotes, figuring out how difficult I want the Verb/Noun skills if they're going to be so difficult for improv (with costs shifted towards techniques), and figuring out how to make enchanting work alongside this - preferably with symbol drawing defaulting right off the verb/noun skills.
