Heck, even in Japan the distinction exists, though its blurrier because Japanese people don't give nearly as much of a shit. But since the early days of aerisdies and other English hentai communities the words loli/lolicon in English have always had a stronger distinction, because in English there were already terms to describe other meanings of the word. It's not all that different from how the word anime isn't quite the same.
Lonewords are not quite the same as the word they originate from. Heck, lolicon gained quite a lot of connotation itself that is completely unrelated to the novel of its etymological origin.
Slang terms will never have exact definitions, but Japanese native speakers have acknowledged the difference in connotation here before and as a result I believe it's even documented on the Pixiv dictionary somewhere.

I imagine if you go back to the 1960s and call those clerk women writing code "software engineers", you'd get laughed at by all the electrical engineer men putting all the hardware in place. And those women would be working with binary, machine code and their own developed assembly, having ten years experience as a "computer" doing rote calculations, having more of a knowledge of the physical hardware and algorithms than people today bashing together frameworks.

Programming is for the most part literally clerk work. The way they call themselves "Software Engineers" is like electrician's wiring up a house calling themselves Electrical Engineers.

College drop out like Bill Gates as well. Self admitted in a public speech. It's clear he's bsing in the speech too because he uses carefully selected wording like "truth be told", "don't lose faith", and "it was awful tasting MeDiCiNe, but I guess the patient needed it" as he read it from a script as if it were not his own words while at times giving off the vibe that we're in a church service all in an attempt to garner support for himself for his own personal gain. He does target audience level stuff but then does shit public speaking classes in college tell you not to do. Read off a fucking script. The entire speech is a full length script written before hand and I sometimes wonder if he wrote it himself because he does things like stutter and misread things there as if he hadn't written it himself because when he was talking about his calligraphy classes the script says "None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first macintosh comptuer" you can audibly hear him begin to say something different from the script but quickly corrects himself. Sounded as if he was going to say first before the word designing. He's only good at reading ahead whilst acting at the same time and retaining a little bit of information because despite his speech I bet you in reality what happened was him telling his programmers/artists how he wanted the typography which more than likely involved more than just his head which implies that claiming credit for the entire thing is a farce in the first place. Then he starts talking about death and it's clear from that speech he clearly accepted death a long time ago and is probably why cancer killed him.

Current gen microkernels managed to fit the whole IPC work space on L1 cache making it fast enough for that to not be a problem anymore. I think the remaining overhead issues comes from ACL now.
