I think the problem is we have too many retards. Any system that the government puts out has to be simple enough for the LCD to use too. If you make it too convoluted, someone is going to complain. Trying to make something that is difficult to hack might also make it too "difficult" for someone just smart enough to make a complaint about something being too difficult. And probably a lot of R&D. It'd probably be easier to scrutinize the counting more.

So, is this is straight up just a better version of Arch Linux? I've been using it for a few days and my mind is blown. The runit init system is a pleasure to use, it's so simple and minimal. The XBPS package manager is many times faster than pacman and unlike pacman doesn't shit itself if you upgrade after a few months. What do you guys think? Am I missing something?

I also liked Void, I been there for 2 years, but no more. This story has been seen hundreds of times with hundreds of other distributions, and the result is always the same. In any case, I really wish them the best and hope they come out of the many potholes they are in.

Lastly, Void kind of "tries" too much to bring the goodies of OpenBSD to Linux, but why not just use OpenBSD at this point? I mean, if you don't need something too Linux-centric, OpenBSD is a great OS (libressl, doas, ports, minimal libc, minimal BSD init) and regarding the human part, it has far more devs, it has an accountable organization and enough money to keep things running (no ego concerns over taking donations, unlike Void devs), and even has adoption on some critical environments, like Xray/CT/MRI machines:

I'm planning on dual-booting Fedora and OpenBSD to test it later on the bare metal.

Applications that don't draw with X primitives (i.e. GTK, Qt, et. al.) aren't drawn on the client but instead on the server which then sends a pixmap over, removing the whole benefit of X's network transparency.

Moreso because they were just designed for a different time. GPU acceleration isn't possible and they are high level enough that they're useless for performance oriented work but too low level for the rest.
