Well, the same will happen when the same program writes high-entropy data in zswapped pages: it alters the practical overcommit ratio. While compressing the page cache is clearly the right way to go (since pages therein can just be dropped remorselessly during elevated memory pressure), I'm unconvinced zswap is actually dangerous. Is there any advantage to buying a 512gb SSD for just the OS and then a separate SSD for everything else?

I’m buying a 2TB SSD + 4TB HDD as well. Should i just sacrifice 512GB of the 2TB for an OS partition and throw the OS on the 2TB SSD or are there any benefits to isolating it on its own 512GB SSD?

So I've got a 500Gb Samsung 959 Evo SATA SSD for my OS and games, 2 1TB drives in RAID 1 for my movies, images, music and documents, and then a 2TB external drive I use mainly for backups. Because games are getting so fuck huge, I'm looking at you Call of Duty MW, my SSD is nearing capacity with only a handful of games installed. I was able to acquire a WD Black SN750 500GB M.2 drive for $70. Because I'm lazy and don't want to reinstall Windows I just plan on leaving that on the SATA SSD and having the NVME drive dedicated just for games. Maybe throwing a few smaller ones on my OS drive if I fill up the NVME one. Am I being dumb and should I just reinstall Windows on the NVME drive?

I have my OS running off a 250 GB m.2 SATA SSD (Samsung 860), and also came to the conclusion that there was no real point in going this small.
I tried to add another m.2 SATA via the PCIe port, but for some reason it won't work. Is the adapter just broken? The m.2 works (replaced my boot drive with it to test it, and it showed up in the BIOS), so it may be the adapter; but I'm also using an Athlon 3000G which only has 8 PCI lanes free for the motherboard's PCIe slot. Could that be a problem?
