ITT: Fonts.

In particularly monospace fonts, and the rare and based monospace unicode fonts. Or the so-called "programmer" fonts. Though, I don't really program. I just like to quickly and easily organize and compare stuff to make everything easier.

I know a lot of people like to avoid talking about this or think that after all this time we would already have flawless fonts needed: but we don't. At least not for me. And I think there may be others.

Instead of asking "what's the best font" I'll just say what I'm going to use; so it can be accepted, or other suggestions can be made. I'm going to use [GNU] Unifont 12 for most things from now on.

The main issue is that sometimes I have to work with things in other languages. I would like them to at least be monospaced. If the font can't render the character: it makes a square block that's not monospace. If it wasn't for that then I wouldn't have to do this. But that's the reality.

tl;dr: I'm looking for a monospace unicode font and the best 1 I've font so far is [GNU] Unifont.

>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview

Mozilla Firefox - Pocket

No.52962295 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Here's a suggestion. Firefox should have Pocket integrated for people who want to use it, but the analytical services provided by Pocket can be disabled.
In fact, Mozilla did a horrible job at initially explaining why they included Pocket. First of all, they skipped over the standard rules of Beta release, and pushed Pocket on to it. Apparently a lot of Mozillians had no idea it was coming either, even though Mozilla says early on they asked some Mozillians about what they thought of the Pocket privacy policy and if it needs changes (which btw it is terrible).
Mozilla integrated Pocket because they needed a quick way to improve Firefox's reading list, and a read it later integrated with Firefox Sync.

This is contrary to the introduction of Firefox's integration with Disconnect.me.

I shouldn't have to enter Private Browsing so to make my browser safe from itself. I don't even know if Disconnect.me will remove those Pocket cookies. I already use the Disconnect.me add-on, but I still don't know if that is good enough.
If you aren't aware, those cookies seem to act the same as Facebook tracking cookies, which track you across webpages, as long as there are "social media" plugins (like buttons).

advice?

No.47704932 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I bought a used laptop, it has an admin password set locking me away from the setup. The laptop has an EFI, not a BIOS.
Setup settings aren't written to the NVRAM (which I already wiped).
I can access these settings through the kernel in:
/sys/firmware/efi/vars
the relevant folder for the password is:
SystemSupervisorPw-7f9102df-e999-4740-80a6-b2038512217b
This folder contains the following files:
attributes
data
guid
raw_var
size

The "data" file contains the following hex string:
09 1F 12 19 12 21 06 09 14 16 41
which corresponds to an eleven characters string of which only four are ASCII:
????!? ??A
I believe this is the (hashed) setup password.
Any idea what kind of hash function could be in use?
Also, how can I edit this data? /sys/firmware is read only, even for root.
Also I guess it's a bad idea to wipe the password data provided that i can edit it?

Android always #1 in cutting edge features

No.52917892 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I just saw the ad for the LG G5 and wow I'm so excited!

I'm really glad Android phones are finally getting such nice features never seen before in a phone!

I can't wait in 2019 when you guys *invent* edge swiping, consistent design, live thumbnails in multitasking and a system that doesn't lag while doing the most simple of tasks

Since Copy is dead, I need something to replace it. Dropbox is botnet, Mega linux client is buggy as hell, pCloud has the ugly icon and it doesn't display pictures thumbnails on android. So, what do you recommend, /g/?
