I'm working on an imageboard inspired website.
Updated it to a responsive interface yesterday, any thoughts?

- reddit-like user interface and image-board like behaviour
- anonymous, no registration, no information stored on the server
- no upvotes/downvotes -> no opinion voting
- nested comments with BBCode & Webm support.
- intelligent comment/thread sorting algorithm
- Create boards on the fly simply by posting into non existing boards

By the way, feel free to destroy the page with hacks/sql injections and such, I'm still fixing bugs.

Antivirus thread

No.47511454 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I need some help /g/uru's.

I tried asking this in the stupid questions thread and all I got back was "install gentoo."
Long story short, I have a virus on my computer that is retardedly resilient. I have run Malware bytes, Security essentials, and adwcleaner in safe mode about 5 times. Each time it seems like it got rid of it, and then 2 hours later I start getting random spyware installed.

Any recommendations on antivirus's to try? How do I beat this?

Install Ubuntu or Wait Until Next Release?

No.47504130 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I decided to take the plunge and replace win8 on my laptop with Ubuntu (being a gnu/linux novice).

So is it worth installing the current version now or is it better to wait for new one, schedueld to be release the 23rd?

There are certain things about programming that certain programmers like to repeat whenever they get the chance. They are true to some extent, but they’ve created an image of programmers which has an air of superiority (while it somehow still seems admirable to many programmers).

You’ve all heard this one: “don’t disturb a programmer while he’s working” along with something about holding all the code in his head. Somebody even made a comic to make the point. It may be true, but the same could be said about many professions. How many authors have you heard say “don’t disturb us, we’re holding plot or dialogue in our heads”? Nobody likes to be disturbed while in the middle of something, yet only programmers make such a big deal about it.

Another is about how a programmer’s or computer scientist’s job isn’t to fix computers or make slide shows. Also true, but if somebody can’t connect to the Wi-Fi, who is the most likely to know what the problem might be? Is it so hard to believe somebody who spends so much time on a computer might know something most don’t (the audacity of this assumption!)? Yet programmers constantly have to remind someone what they’re job is. I remember reading a blog post about a systems admin who was somehow mistaken for a tech support guy and felt so offended when asked how to get a printer working.
