You know you could convert much more people to Linux if you made a fuss about windows activation/license checks and how windows users licenses can be revoked or that each "genuine" windows might suddenly become non-genuine. Tell them about the whole "essential and can't run windows without it " COM stack and how COM requires launching a server/with wide open ports. etc.
Tell them about unsigned drivers,that you can't install them in win8 without tinkering, and that option is going to get harder each new version.
I.e. instead of arguing about such vague ideas as "muh freedom" or "open source>closed source" you need to point out concrete, highly-visible flaws.
I reccomend setting up a windows VM and study it, this way you get real on-hands experience and get to make arguments that will convince other people.
Same thing could be said of Linux, too. Most users arguments about "its hard" or "seems slow and buggy" are subjective experience and no one takes them seriously, until they trace the problem themself and find the culprit(quite unlikely given the lack of linux expirience).

I need a way to get her password. I'm already looking at a program called "Ophcrack" but I can't seem to get that to work on my own laptop.

I need something I can boot from disc and cracks the password without leaving anything behind. Can't reset it, can't delete it, I just need to know the current password.

Opinions on Nokia Lumia 521. I'm looking for a smartphone with a cheap plan, and this is the best I could find. $30/month for unlimited text, data, and 100 minutes of talk. I don't mind a contract, but everything is at least $70 for unlimited data. Doesn't seem worth it for a nicer phone.
