Sup /g/entlemen, long-time lurker, first time poster here.
I'm starting to get tired of Windows 7, and the way it looks/feels, and I'm looking for a change. I want to get into Linux and the like, but I'm a giant newbie when it comes to picking the right distro. I did a little research on what distro I should get started with, and eventually went with Mint, however it didn't work out very well. I tried 2 installs and both times I had horrible lag issues and couldn't display the GUI without grey chunks everywhere. I'm assuming this is a hardware compatibility issue? Anyhow, what distro would you guys suggest to a newcomer? Here are my specs:
>AMD A8-3530MX APU with Radeon HD Graphics
>8GBs of RAM
