I installed win 7 and it's surprisingly decent and made me realize there may never be the year of the Linux. Why isn't there any killer distros, why is it so horribly fragmented. The community has more in-fighting than any other known.

The main issue with ALL the distros is extremely specific uses tailored to the dev and not uses for the general population. Ubuntu was OK but is mostly shit, Linux mint with kde is alright, arch is, well full autism mode but none are must-have.

When will Linux hit the critical point that turns it from the misunderstood clumsy OS into a undeniable powerhouse? Will it ever happen?

What WM/DE is best? I have tried LXDE and KDE and Openbox, but all of them seem broken or certain things dont work (Drag/drop) and other random shit.
