A neighbour asked for help with a laptop he dropped. Turns out the hardware is fine but the lol Hitachi 320GB is fucked. All the data recovery tools out there seem to be floppy or CD based (I have no CD drive). I plugged the drive into my rig, turned it upside down and it shows up as "RAW". What the fuck can I do next, if anything?

Anyone? If I get his data, he will probably give me the laptop as he already got a new one. I will then proceede to install Gentoo on it for your entertainment.

In my opinion>No need for aftermarket cooler >PSU is a little low >Could settle for a cheaper monitor
Anonymous
OP, not sure if you're overclocking or not. If not, don't buy the aftermarket cooler.>>Upgrade to Core i5 2500K >>Switch that PSU out for atleast 500W >>Upgrade to 7850 That is what basically the "cookie cutter" PC build is. Though if none of that permits to your budget, your current build is fine and will work and play games. I'm just trying to suggest how to "future proof" your PC better. Good luck!

Hey guys, wondering whether any of you can point me in the right direction here. I have an ArrayList of objects which contain a double, how would I go about creating a method in Java which would totalise all of the objects within the ArrayList? My caveman approach of... sum+=****.getVarable(); System.out.println("The answer is" +sum); Returns a wrong answer when the method is used on multiple occasions.

>>29458718 >Isn't var = var + n worse than var += n? It probably compiles to the exact same thing, unless Java has really shit optimisation.
Anonymous
>>29458754 > unless Java has really shit optimisation. Are you assuming it doesn't? I think += is supposed to be it's optimization. I'm probably just talking out of my ass, though.

I'm having a problem with Linux. Today I tried installing Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon alongside Windows 7. Everything would be great but whenever I try to boot Windows 7 I get: "a disk read error occurred. press ctrl+alt+del to restart". I'm new to Linux and I like it's speed, interface but if I can't fix this issue I'll go back to W7.
