>>95364999Linux is already used on phones, servers, handhelds and televisions in one flavour or another. However, linux will not be used widely on personal desktops until it has lost its current appearance and continues to turn into a mac-like system. Systemd has brought together the boot system, GNOME has brought together the desktop environment, but for the lowest common retardinator, it is still not simple enough.
There needs to be a distribution which doesn't allow the user to install packages so that the user cannot break things. It won't have a package manager at all, but simply run everything in flatpaks or snaps, and only those allowed by the distribution. The terminal will be removed from the DE so that you cannot change system commands and would need to boot into a root command prompt to change anything. By default, it needs to have a setting which runs an automated check and if anything is changed, it will revert the settings to stock. Games need to work with a one-click install. If it cannot be installed instantly without option or following a guide, it is not fit for the vast majority of PC users. It needs to remove nearly all power from the user to disallow customization and freedom of choice and only then will it start picking up steam.
AKA linux will not be linux if it's ever widely adopted
