Those other characters pay for their damage multipliers in other ways. Most of them sacrifice plenty in the way of raw stats to get their damage multipliers - the people who can stack friendships or skills tend to be shit units in their own right, so the friendships become a crutch to patch up their innate issues. The only real exceptions are Alice (who still relies heavily on her friendships for survivability and her crit skills for damage) and Sanae (who can't stack multipliers unless you give up her PS slot and field nearly 15 cost worth of units who are mostly of middling quality).

Are there actually any good mecha that take place in a waterworld kinda setting? Other than Z'Gok and Gog battles, and kinda Pacific Rim I can't think of a series that actually takes place underwater.

I don't suppose you have a higher res version of this? I can kinda make out the kanji on white, but the stuff in orange is just a mess. And my OCR program is no help on something this small.

From what I can make out, though, it appears to be a bunch of chatter about demonstration machines and color schemes? I don't think it's very serious.

By the way, this thing is exactly what you think it is so I'm not going to bother with a full translation. A blurb at the top notes there were a lot of variations in the three months it took to roll out the GMs, the arrow key explains that darker arrows indicate a direct successor while lighter arrows indicate a diversion, and the note underneath the arrow from the RX-78-2 to the GM explains that feedback data from the Gundam was used to develop the GM.

All of the stuff under the names of each machine is just a short bio, nothing fancy.

Whether it's hard metal or not doesn't matter, what matters is that you match the speed.

Characters getting their falls broken by giant robot hands is no more or less stupid than people going at terminal velocity hitting water and sinking instead of bouncing right the fuck off the surface.

War God, not Elder Gods, by adapting to the rules of that particular world (which was less grounded in laws of reality than their normal universe).

RNG gains don't matter if you're somewhat competent at the games.

You should be playing FE for ranks, ltc (casual or absolute), 0% or some combination of the above because it like most srpgs suffer from inverse scaling where the early game is the hardest part in casual play.
