Ar Tonelico and Ar Nosurge revolve around song magic being sung each battle to build up their strength and cast increasingly powerful attacks, and while the singers (Reyvatails in Ar Tonelico) are singing, the defenders are other characters who attack enemies as well as defend them from attacks targeting the singer.

All of them do have some romantic development between the MC and one of the Reyvatails (both to build stronger song magic and for specific pairing ends). Ar Nosurge is actually pretty hilarious in that Ion is mechasexual (provided you didn't/couldn't play Ciel Nosurge and marry her).

Reyvatails of Ar Tonelico are some sort of magitech cyborg (physically human, capable of reproducing, but bound by magitech to the towers they reside in in order to use song magic and to interface with certain machinery); the Alpha 3 being fully human-created and tower admins, the Beta series mostly human-created, and the rest hybrid children between Beta Revyatails and humans (and have the shortest lifespan since their human genetics can't handle the strength of song magic).

AT1 and 2 use sprites while AT3 and AN use full CG models.

Randomly; I'm torn between Jaquli and Cocona for AT2's love interest. I like both of them more than AT2's two main Reyvatails.

Well technically it's the same guy (you) in both cases, it's just that in Ciel she's only got a monitor to hump and in Ar she's got an entire robot body to play with.

Go for Jacqli. From a pure character standpoint she needs it the most. Cloche and Luca get all of their growth from each other and Cocona's always got the imouto spot anyway, but Mir is in bad need of a cuddle or two.
Plus, you get a duet out of it and extra songs are always great.

Project Noah has always been a textbook example of a vision exceeding it's grasp. Why are there so many FF's? Because each is a different story with common elements, not an unending continuity. TT and co. are trying to do for Japanese Sci-fi what, and this is a stretch, what Tolkien did for High Fantasy.

Also, The movie did not tank, it was pretty much a success, both for nerdy ruri fans and for the regular ones. Heck, if winning the Animage Grand Prix isnt enough proof of this, i really dont know what is. It was decent, and people though there was more to come, so they all thought "yay"...
The trilogy and a sequel series were both cancelled after legal problems with sponsors (including but not limited to King Records) continued to persist. Even after these were fixed, Sato decided to quit doing anymore Nadesico. To this day no one knows why, though speculators say that the legal riffraff might not have ended so well, forcing him to keep his yapper shut..
On the matter of the videogames: NEITHER of the videogames resolves any of the major premises of the show, they were released in synchro with the movie, just to cash in on the popularity of the show. An example of this is the famous Saturn Utena game. Since Sega was a main sponsor of the series, why not force people to buy more stuff?, thats what they though...
