On the matter of the videogames: NEITHER of the videogames resolves any of the major premises of the show, they were released in synchro with the movie, just to cash in on the popularity of the show. An example of this is the famous Saturn Utena game. Since Sega was a main sponsor of the series, why not force people to buy more stuff?, thats what they though...
