Someone explain to me the G-Reco plot in layman terms for the uncultured swine like myself

Alright then so i am a big gundam fan and i have watched everything gundam related, i even watched "SD Gundam Force" which was terrible, however Gundam: G no Reconguista is even worse. The art is pretty good its like Eureka 7 which i don't mind at all, the sound is ehhh could be better, the characters i have no idea what they are all about except their views on war and the fact that their willing to fight their allies with the enemy instead of helping their allies, i also don't understand how one gundam which is supposed to be pilot by one person can be piloted by other people, they just shoot that out of now where. I know i am not suppose to spoil anything in the reviews, however this anime has such a confusion story line that i do not know what the eff is going on, i don't know why the main characters are helping the enemy, and i don't know why they got captured willing. Honestly i was looking forward to this despite what my friends have said and i honestly believe them now. The enjoyment, their is none, the art pretty good a 7, the story a 3 because honestly i can't tell wtf is going, the characters a 1 they seem retarded as eff, and the overall score a 3. I am a nice guy when it comes to rating and i have watched terrible anime till they got better however i think i am going to drop this anime. Its a waste of time and i can watch even better anime. If you want a good anime watch gurren lagann, code geass, Eureka Seven, or rewatch the other gundam series cause i just finished episode four and i can't take it already.
