What if...
Japan actually gave a shit about the world outside of Japan for a moment, and some anime director went on Youtube or something and discovered the vast crazy world of Western conspiracy theories. Illuminati, the moon being hollow and projecting a matric onto th earth so we can't see that we are slaves to alien lizard people worshipped since Sumerian times, British royal family being shape-changers, etc etc.

What conspiracy would the director pick to turn into the season's most original mecha show/the next Evangelion/the series that will save anime?
