Regarding Gundam SEED...

No.4740093 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
I'm not that big fan of mecha anime compared to most of the community, and don't come to /m/ that very often, but I was rewatching a bit of SEED the other day and I stumbled with the Battle of Panama. Aside the fact that Fukuda is the hackiest of hack directors and Morosawa has as much writing talent as Stephanie Mayer, I was amazed at the and level and amount of war crimes on screen: shooting at surrendering soldiers, deploying WMDs. Every soldier is depicted as a ruthless, vindictive, blood-thirsty nutjob for both pacifistic and pornographic reasons: the best way to portray "war is hell" is to make it look like an unending slaughterhouse where nothing good comes from and no participant is able to be morally decent, except the flawless main characters.

This is repeated all over SEED: flashbacks depicting the murder of Coordinators by racist Naturals, the firing of the Genesis and Cyclops. Moments like this are present as well in better shows like LoGH, but are rare and part of a larger context of what's to be expected of war: "I didn't want to shoot you, kid but, hey, that how war is". Soldiers are merely tools of a larger system and don't have it personal against their opponents: they don't gain or lose anything themselves to maim that guy. And if they get die, well, it's part of the job. In SEED, bloodshed is portrayed as "immakillyouallyyyaaaahhhggg!!!".

Countries in the dark are where /m/ series took place for a significant portion of their time. Lighter grey indicates that country was the setting for a short time in the /m/ series.

What countries do you think would make a good /m/ setting?

Bubblegum Crisis 2033

No.3537738 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
So I just finished Bubblegum Crisis, fuck yes power armor, but now I'm left with one question.

Do I fap to them when they're completely naked or completely armored?

Oh yeah, and are the other OVA's like AD Police Files and 2040 any good? Though really, the first question takes priority.

These LAMs showed up in Battletech Tactical Handbook and Battleforce.

There is a difference the three known LAMs in TRO 3025.

Though I like to think these are the STG-A10 Drac variant or the Advanced Technology Stinger LAM.

Okay here's something i don't get about the final battle of 00 season 2, Why was Ali Al waiting in a random hallway? You'd think he'd be outside in full force attacking CB and if its just to protect veda then why the heck did CB send Lockon? You'd think they'd send Tieria cause he's the really the only one who could get it back, i mean what could Lockon even do if he did make it to Veda? Another thing what was weird about sending lockon off to wherever he was going was, you'd think think CB would make lockon protect the ship from the Gaga army, after all he has a gundam that is built for shooting things, nope they use Hal and Soma, they'd have been better to send in to infiltrate or go and protect Tieria on his way to Veda.

Let's think of countries /m/ series have taken place on. I'll mark a country black if a mecha series has taken place there. Mentioning of countries don't count. The characters have to be there.

USA = Heroman, some Gundams
Japan = Mazinger, Getter Robo, etc.
